Week 7: Systems Analysis

Tutorial – Work in your respective assignment groups:

1. You and your team have been asked by the town council to develop a system to
regulate traffic in a local car park. Design a questionnaire that will help the team find
out how the car park is used at present and how people feel that it should be
improved. Ensure that your form is arranged in appropriate sections and is self-
explanatory.
How is the environment of the car park?
Is the basic infrastructure of the car park is still functioning?
Is the car park clean occasionally?
Do the car park fee affordable?
Do the car park safe?

2. A large chain of newsagent shops has decided to look at the possibility of buying a
new computer system to improve the running of its business. The manager has
employed an IT consultant to carry out a feasibility study. Part of the feasibility study
would involve the IT consultant using interviews, questionnaires, and observation to
collect information about the existing system.
a. State two advantages of using interviews to collect information from the
employees.
1) We can know more about the requirements of the employees, since the
employees are the user of the computer system.
2) We can specify the user to sharpen our prespective on the system we are
planning to buy.
b. Make a list of questions you could ask in your interview session
What is the pros and cons of the current computer system?
What functions you desired to implement to the current computer system to
increase your productivity?
How the new computer system help you if we implement the function you
desired?
Do you think the function will help the company to increase the productivity.
Is the new computer system also good for other employees?
c. List the advantages of using observation in this scenario
We can know the reaction of employees on the current system.
3. Suggest the best requirement gathering technique for the following situations with
justifications
a. Getting an employee satisfaction review of a recent workshop
