Summary
CH150 is an error to prevent liquid compression which can induce serious compressor failure. If CH150 occurs, you should
check ODU, IDU and installation issue. This technical bulletin is a description for condition of CH150 and T/shooting.
Information
■ Symptom
CH150 occur.
■ Cause
CH150 occur if all of the following conditions are met.
1) Over 10 minutes from start-up and end of oil recovery operation.
2) Cooling operation
3) DSH (Discharge super-heat, discharge temp. – bubble temp.) is under 3 ℃
and compressor running over 10 minutes from start-up
4) Except defrosting operation, oil recovery operation, system OFF and simultaneous operation
■ Why does CH150 occurs? (liquid compression)
1. Installation fault
Case 1. Individual switch for each of indoor unit separately from the power supply
: Individual power switch can be the reason of compressor failure
If some of indoor units are OFF with EEV open, liquid refrigerant pass through EEV
of power OFF IDU without super-heating. It can cause liquid compression and compressor failure.
You can check this fault by LGMV data at job site like below
※ Additionally, It causes bad oil recovery. When the system is in oil recovery operation, all IDU’s EEV will be opened,
but power OFF IDU cannot open their EEV so the system will be lack of oil.

and IDU

CH53
If IDU unit power is off during operation, EEV is opened, much liquid ref. is bypassed to accumulator
It can make discharge superheat very low ,make CH150
Case 2. Installation fault in piping work
: Liquid refrigerant pass through
If Liquid pipe and gas pipe are connected without any IDU directly, liquid refrigerant pass through that point without
any super-heating. It can cause liquid compression and compressor failure. In this case you should check discharge
and suction super-heating (maybe very low) and piping also.
If liquid pipe and gas pipe is connected diretly, much liuquide refrigerant flows into gas pipe diectly.
It makes discharge superheat low.
One of liquid pipe for indoor unit is connected direclty with gas pipe.(installation fault)
Case 3. Refrigerant over flow
: This may occur when refrigerant too much in cycle. In cooling if refrigerant too much, high pressure and low pressure
over rise. In addition comp frequency and discharge temperature low. In this case, liquid refrigerant over flow from
Accum to comp, it can cause liquid compression and compressor failure.
Ref. over
flow
Even 1 indoor unit EEV opens much, Compressor discharge superheat can be lower than 3℃,
So that can make CH150
In this data, there is no low discharge superheat because it is all indoor unit operation,
but in case of low load operation, CH150 can be happened.
★ EEV internal leakage at full close(small leakage), cannot make CH150 or weak cooling

Case 2. ODU SC(Sub cooler) fault
: Liquid refrigerant pass through sub cooler without super-heating
This fault has similar symptom like gas/liquid pipe direct connection. Almost all refrigerant pass through sub cooler
and very poor cooling and heating. You can check this fault by LGMV data like below.

Case 5. Reverse connection of compressor lead wire (power wire) between C1 and C2
: This may occur when only one compressor is operating while compressor power lines are reversed.
For example, if only one compressor is operated under the condition that compressor power lines are reversed,
the discharge super-heating is detected to very low and the error will occur.
