T he Common University Entrance Test (CUET) provides a common admission system for

various undergraduate courses at 44 central universities and other participating universities. It is

mandatory for candidates to appear in the CUET exam 2023 to get admission in UG courses at
all central universities and some participating universities. The CUET exam was designed
based on the recommendations of the National Education Policy, 2020 to provide a single
window admission system for all the central universities.

The entrance test provides a common platform for admission to all the participating universities.
Admission to various undergraduate courses is possible based on the CUET entrance test
scores. The CUET entrance test will be conducted in computer-based mode. The CUET 2023

entrance test will be conducted in around 547 cities around the country and 13 cities outside
India. The CUET 2023 entrance test will be conducted in two shifts - 1st shift (45 to 195
minutes) and 2nd shift (45 to 225 minutes). The entrance test of CUET 2023 will be conducted
in 13 languages. The CUET 2023 will consist of four sections - Section 1A (language test),
Section 1B (option language test), Section 2 (domain specific test) and Section 3 (general test)

C UET Exam Pattern 2023
To get an idea of the format and structure of CUET 2023, candidates should check the exam
pattern. There will be four sections in the CUET question paper: a language test, a domain test,
and a general test. Section 1A, which is a language test will consist of 13 languages, while the
option language test (Section 1B) consists of 20 optional languages to choose from. The
domain specific test (Section 2) consists of 27 subjects. Section 3 of CUET comprises a general
test. Candidates can apply for a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section 1B
taken together and choose a maximum of 6 subjects from domain specific tests.

According to the marking scheme of CUET 2023, the students will be awarded 5 marks for each
correct answer. One mark will be deducted for the incorrect response. NTA will deduct no marks
for an unanswered or marked response.
