DRESS OF SIKKIM: The Kho or kabutar is a traditional dress worn by Bhutia, ethnic Sikkimese
people of Sikkim and Nepal. It is a loose, cloak-style garment that is fastened at the neck on one side and
near the waist with a silk or cotton belt similar to the Tibetan chuba and to the Ngalop gho of Bhutan, but
sleeveless.

DANCE OF SIKKIM: Bhutia folk dance”Tashi Sabdo”-This age old group


dance beautifully and gracefully shows the customs of offering khadas (Scarfs) 0n
auspicious occasion. The dancers dance to the melodious tunes dully supported by
musical instrument such as Yarkha, Drum, Flute and Yangjey.

FESTIVAL OF SIKKIM: Losoong
(Namsoong) is annually celebrated across
the Indian State of Sikkim on the 18th
day of the 10th month of the Tibetan
Lunar Calendar, which also marks the
beginning of the harvest season. The
Namsoong festival begins on the 1st day of
the new moon phase Kurneet Lovo, as per
the Lepcha lunisolar Calendar known as
Dungkit Karchu. The losoong festival is celebrated as Sonam Losoong, by the
Sikkimese Bhutia and as Namsoong by the Lepchas. The festival is also celebrated in
Nepal and Bhutan.

TOURIST ATTRACTION OF SIKKIM: This majestic 3rd


highest mountain in the world located on the edge
of India and Nepal. It looks spectacular and beautiful
from numerous view points.
