(TSLA, AAPL, FL ,TPL)

Boris Bajdevski, Florent Izairi, Jovana Godzoska

Introduction

The following paper summarizes and discusses all the investments that were
made on the 1st of April 2021, and sold on the 24th April 2021. It provides facts and
gives reasonings as to why a certain stock price fell or rose. The main motive behind
the company choices (Tesla, Apple, Foot Locker, Texas Pacific Land Trust) was
diversification. Our group wanted to invest the funds in different industries, in order
to decrease the risk of loss, and to lessen the chances of one negative event
affecting all companies at once.

Each of the four detailed explanations are accompanied with a line chart - its
purpose is to show historical price data for a certain company’s stock. Also included
are tables - their purpose is to show the weekly price change of the stock, along with
the current total value of the stocks purchased.

Tesla; REASONING

Date: 5 April

Tesla’s stock price increased by 7% or 46 dollars. It went from 661 to 707 dollars a
share, and this is because Tesla shared its report of the cars delivered and in the
report they stated that they delivered 180,000 cars in this first quarter of 2021 and
this was much more than the analysts were expecting for so this gave investors a
more confidence in Tesla and it resulted into more shares being bought.

Tesla
Date: 13 April
Tesla shares went up 8% hitting $762 per share this tuesday, the last time the stock
was this high it was back in mid February. So why did this happen, it was likely
trading higher due to a combination of the market's upbeat mood regarding growth
stocks and some recent optimistic notes about the company from analysts. Also
investors are feeling confident about Tesla's report on its first quarter earnings
which will be published April 26, Monday.

Tesla
Date: 19 April

For today unlike my previous tracking of the stock, this time I'm recording a
drop of 5.33% in Tesla’s stock. It went down by $39.41. This fall was caused
by a fatal crash that happened during the weekend (Saturday,17 April). Two
individuals were declared dead after they hit a tree and it was believed that
neither of them was in the driver’s seat.

Texas Pacific Land Corporation (TPL); REASONING

Monthly update: April

This Stock is not as exciting as Tesla or Apple for example especially for the
month of April 2021. As you can see on the chart this month TPL has
significantly dropped, it dropped $127 or 7.96%. So why did this happen? This
month TPL made an announcement that they will share the quarterly earnings
in the beginning of May, 7th of May. The market and the investors believe that
TPL will deliver a decline in year-over-year earnings results for the quarter
ended March 2021. Revenues are expected to be $79.72 million, down 17.5%
from the year-ago quarter. Analysts believe that the company is hurt from the
result of the pandemic. But we should not forget that the pandemic is towards
its end and also analysts recommend that its investors hold the stock, take for
example the last four months, the stock raised by $716.12 or 94.65%. For the
last 6 months it has raised by $999.70 or 211.36%. Lastly from the previous
year it rose $973.86 or 195.23%.
This upward trend is likley as a result of energy prices going up since tpl earns
from oil companies that use their land. Also it is believed that they may change
from a trust to a corporation. Corporations have better tax benefits than trusts
My personal opinion is that this is a great long term stock to invest in!

Company Info

Foot Locker, Inc. is a shoe and apparel retailer. They have several subsidiaries,
including Champs Sports, Footaction, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Runners
Point, SIX:02, and Sidestep.

Breakdown:

· 1st April

o Foot Locker in a statement to local and state officials said that it’s
preparing to dismiss 22 employees in its IT department, because it plans
to outsource this part of the business through a third-party service. This
breaking news caused the stock price of Foot Locker to fall. ¹

· 7th April

o Foot Locker announces a new collection titled “WaleMania”, which includes

streetwear-inspired hoodies and T-shirts in order to honor Black WWE
superstars. Because of many recent conflicts and calamities due to
racism in the US, investors saw this as a positive step for Foot Locker –
after this announcement, their stock price started rising. ²

· 8th April

o Foot Locker released its Impact Report, in which the company describes its
efforts to improve its social, governance, and environmental priorities. It
also thoroughly analyzed its Corporate Responsibility Program. This
announcement made people glad and Foot Locker’s stock price went up
drastically. ³

· 12th April

o News broke out that Foot Locker’s store had been broken into and
looted in the Minneapolis riots. This caused FL’s stock price to fall. ⁴

· 13th April

o The company announced that it’s implementing the new touchless-

capable payment system FreedomPay in all of their stores across the
US. This provides the option to pay with contactless payment methods
and digital wallets. The motive behind this action was, as Foot Locker
spokesperson said, “to provide an advanced, safe, and secure in-store
consumer payment experience”. This move increased Foot Locker’s
stock price. ⁵

· 16th April

o Foot Locker stock started falling drastically after it was revealed that
they didn’t donate $200 million to Black Lives Matter, after a Facebook
post claimed they did a few days before. ⁶

· 19th April

o It has been announced that Foot Locker has teamed up with designer
Nicole McLaughlin in order to release a brand-new premium
sportswear collection. This caused the FL stock price to rise. ⁷

· 21st April

o News broke out that Cardi B’s Reebok collection (which is exclusively
sold only in Foot Locker and Finish Line) is quickly selling out. Investors
saw this as a positive and the stock price of FL increased. ⁸

· 23rd April

o Rapper “Powell” signed a contract with Foot Locker for a special edition
collection. The new sneakers are first expected to arrive in Canada,
and then in the US. This increased FL’s stock market price. ⁹
Apple:

Among the top Dow Jones stocks, Apple rallied 2% Friday.

Shares are forming a new cup base with a 145.19 buy point.

According to the IBD Stock Checkup, Apple stock shows a 79

out of a best-possible 99 IBD Composite Rating. The Composite Rating — an easy
way to identify top growth stocks is a blend of key fundamental and technical
metrics to help investors gauge a stock's strengths.

· 1st April

Apple wants to reduce emissions by 75% by 2030, and in a move towards that goal,
the company plans to take on Tesla’s Megapacks for energy storage. Prices lift
2.36%.

Apple announced last week that it would build a battery-based solar energy storage
facility in California able to store 240 megawatt-hours of energy – which, to put it in
perspective, is enough to power over 7,000 homes for a day. The new facility will
include 85 Tesla Megapack energy storage systems, which will make it possible for
Apple to store energy generated by its facility. The project has been dubbed by Apple
“one of the largest battery projects in the country.”

· 5th April

$123.87 to $125.90; it went up about 87.7M that day.

· 8th April

It went up for 1.09%.

The global chip shortage is making its mark on big tech companies around the world,
and MacBook and iPad production is delayed as the supply crunch hits Apple.
It doesn’t seem like anyone is too freaked out though, as prices lift just under 2%.

· 9th April

The stocks went up for 2.47%.

· 10th April

The stocks went down 0.97%.

· 14th April

The stocks also went down for 2.16%.

· 21st April

Apple holds its “Spring Loaded” event, its first event of the year, releasing a bevy
of new iPads, iMacs, and more.

Highlights of the event included a new iMac that ships in practically every color
of the rainbow. The first redesign of the product since 2012 is a nice nod to the
iconic 1999 candy-colored iMac. Apple also announced the new iPad Pro with an
M1 chip, an AirTag lost-device tracking system, and a brand new Apple TV.
In a matter of less than six weeks, Apple stock climbed from a 2021 low of about
$116 per share to nearly $135. The recent rally must have Apple investors
wondering if the stock might have rushed too fast and too far from the business
fundamentals.

Apple stock has been recovering from the early March lows of $116 per share to
$133. On April 21, the stock gained a modest 0.7% to close the session trading at
$133 per share.

In premarket action, AAPL started to head higher by a timid 0.3% at last check.
The Apple Maven discusses some of the key factors that could move Apple
stock during the April 22 session.
