Task 1 of 3:
Introduction: write the script that you will be recording for your introduction here. Introduce yourself
and say what the documentary will be about. Maybe make a statement that you are going to challenge or
ask a question that you’re going to try and answer through the course of the documentary and in the
conclusion.
Music videos have been enjoyed by people for many years all around the world. Are music videos today as
relevant as they used to be? Has Technology really been a benefit to music videos? The way in which people
consume media is changing constantly and at a rapid speed.

Task 2 of 3:

In the 20th century, we see the release of Bohemian

extensive use of motion pictures. This is due the fact what I'm talking about . Also some pics of the band
that technology has advanced since 1894.
All music videos ,including Bohemian Rhapsody,
around this time were shot in 480p with a 4 by 3
aspect ratio as this was standard tv size back then.

Then in the early 80s the company MTV was

founded by Robert Pittman, Tom , Les Garland and
John Sykes. The creation of this company was one of
the biggest changes for a long time in the music Pictures of the company and the founders and the
video industry. This added a young , fun and fresh music video”video killed the radio star”.
take on music videos. Mtv was trying to target the
younger generation. One example of this is the first
music video they ever made ‘ video killed the radio
star, with its fun edit style.

Nowadays, the music video industry has massively

advanced. The introduction of social media has been
hugely influential on the way the music video
industry has evolved. social media has created a I will have clips from modern day music videos such

In the modern world social media is the main way well
people access their visual media, social media has
been the replacement for what once was TV .

Another artist that has used social media platforms

to show off their music is Kid Laroi with his music
video stay. Released in 2021 he has really used
technology to his advantage to portray the message
of his music to the audience. However social media
has not always been good. Nowadays social media
has changed to such short form content that
people's attention span is not as good as it used to
be and people get bored way more quickly. Show the old equipment they used to use to film.
Maybe some old cameras and recording equipment

artists and the viewer. As technology has advanced
it has made it easier for artists to portray the song's
message and at the same time made it more visually
appealing for the audience to watch.

Like I have previously mentioned before, music

videos were as simple as they could get. This was
mainly down to the fact the technology we have
today wasn't invented. You used to just have a few
shots of some old pictures almost like a slideshow,
whereas you are almost watching a short film to Show some stock footage of someone editing while I

equipment have massively expanded the ways in
which people can show off their visual media. For

maybe ways. But one popular technique used to
duplicate people called cloning consists of cutting
out the subject and masking it in the video.

Here are just a few other examples that use Here I will show off the people I am talking about
technology well on the modern day. (Post Malone their own famous work while I talk about it
rockstar, Avicii - Heaven and Juice WRLD - Lucid

Key people in the industry 1m

In the music video industry there are lots of
people involved in making a music video. It's not
just the artist and the camera operator as you
may think. You need a whole team all the way
from the director to the editor.
One well known director in the music industry is
Spike Jonze. You may not know him by name
but you have most definitely seen his work. He
has directed and worked on some of the most
famous music videos to date such as flashing
lights by kanye west ,da funk by daft punk and
lots more.

Another famous music video director you may

recognize is Mark Romanek. He has directed
countless music videos such as shake it off by Here I will be showing examples of what I am talking
taylor swift , jump they say by davie bowie and about for example I will have real-life examples (The
invisible by U2. And that just breaks the ice with KSI music video) I want to prove to the audience
some of the work he has done. what I am talking about is true.

Key techniques associated with the subject

Making a music video can be as easy or as

complex as you would want. One technique
that is popular with the music video industry is
cutting to the beat of the music. This involves
editing your clips to look visually appealing and
satisfying to the viewer. Each time the beat
changes so does the edit of the music video.

Another popular technique is lip syncing. This is

where artists make it look like they are singing
but in fact it's just their lips moving with audio
over the top. A good example of lip syncing is
the music video Lips Are Movin by Meghan
Trainor. In this video you can see that it is made
to look like the artist is singing live but in fact is
just edited in a way to look like that.

One other popular technique used in music

videos is camera angles. One music video from
the modern day that uses camera angles well is
Ball & Chain by Ramzoid. In this example, you
can see how they use camera angles to show Here I will have my voice-over with the video clip of

my own work I have done. I'll show off the final thing
I filmed. However I also plan to film some behind
scenes of getting the shot.
Your own attempts at mastering a technique

Here I have attempted to create the same shot

type as previously shown in the Ramzoid Ball
and Chain music video.

To create this shot I positioned the camera on

one side of the lake and had the subject of
the clip stand over the other side of the lake.
Once the subject was over there I would centre
the subject in the middle of the screen. Then I
would start to record but while recording
gradually zoom into the subject. Revealing what
they are doing in more detail. This shot may
also be classed as an establishing shot.

Jack: Have you ever done any music video work

before and if so what was it?

Paul: “...”

Task 3 of 3:
Conclusion: write the script that you will be recording for your conclusion here. revisit your initial
question or statement from the introduction, recap some highlights of the things you’ve studied for your
question/statement and suggest whether the statement is supported or what the answer to the question
was.
So we now know how the music video industry has evolved over the years in many ways all the way from
the people to the companies to the technology, to the way people even view music videos.

As an honourable mention I would also like to mention it is not just the filming crew involved in making
music videos there are lots more including fashion, makeup and art and design teams involved in the
making of music videos

So to wrap up we now know how the music video industry has massively changed using technology for good
and for bad. It has been a massive improvement in the way people can tell the story of that song. You can
get a lot more complex with your videos nowadays and it's now easier than ever to share your content
online.
