Big second half lifts Lions
By Mike Brandt
The biggest test thus far was Tuesday night in
the Lion’s Den. Lustre Christian boystook on Scobey-
Opheim in a key District 3C basketball game in Lustre.
The Lions came away with their 14th straight win, 7-0
in conference, 58-33. But it wasn’t easy as the Lions had
to earn the victory.
The teams battled to a 19-19 game at the break,
it was 8-8 after the first quarter in a defensive contest.
Scobey-Opheim held leads of 4-0, 6-3, 8-5, and 15-12
when the Lions rallied to tie the game before halftime.
Johnslee Pierre, a 6-foot-5 freshman, had a bucket and
6-foot-5 senior Jasiah Hambria added a bucket that gave
the Lions a 16-15 lead. Cayden Klatt buried a three-
pointer for a 19-17 lead, but Kolten Machart tied the
game with his bucket.
From there on it was all Lions. The Spartans scored
11 points in the final period, but had only 14 total in the
second half.
Hambria had a game-high 23 points to lead the
