However, having a good performance and operation also means huge amount of electric
consumption. Cresc Inc. is consuming an average of 945, 445 KWH per year and has an average
monthly electric bill of PHP 492,723.00. They have already put in place countermeasures to control
and lessen this numbers and they are still continuously working on ideas and programs to aid their
electric bill.
Last April 2018, Cresc Inc transferred to their newest facility inside the Freeport Zone, along
this transfer is their increase in production capability and new warehouses. This transfer and
expansion of the company generated new projection of electric consumption and bill, thus also
increasing their Greenhouse Gas emissions /Carbon footprint. This foreseen problem of the company
and their aim to maintain and grow their image as a ‘green’ company led to a problem identified by
the researcher and wish to present solution/s by identifying the potential renewable energy sources
in the new location of the new facility and assessing their viability and benefits that the company can
gain from this renewable sources.
The new facility is located near the ocean, where abundance of wind can be observe and being
in a tropical country a good amount of sunlight is observed throughout the year. The plant also have
a water treatment facility where wastewater flow can be tapped for energy before discharging to
canals. At the back of the plant is also a canal where wastewater from other establishments is flowing
which has potential to have enough head to produce some electricity. Roof exhaust from the facility
ventilation can also be source of the wind power for the company.
The researcher aim to measure the potential of this resources and their possible contribution
to the power supply of the company. It is also the aim of the researcher to produce a paper that
contains information that other manufacturing companies in the area can reference to assess their
own plant for potential renewable energy sources and offset their carbon foot print.
Also, the document that will be produced in this research can be used by the company to
compare or referenced to proposals that will be submitted by contractors should they wish to pursue
installing any or combination of the presented renewable energy solutions.
