There are numerous threats in the environment but they’re mostly threats that
our environment experiencing now. This are the climate change a global-warming
driven by a human-activities, attributed largely to the increased levels of
atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels . Because of climate
change the temperature of the atmosphere was increases and it is the major effects
on the environment such as the seasons, rising of the sea levels, and glacial retreats.
The habitat loss and degradation is the changes in the environment resulted to the
rendering of a specific habitat to be functionally valuable. The pollution it can be the
water, air, or land pollution, are all threat to all life forms on Earth. However, it plays
a major threat to biodiversity when it comes to the nutrient loading of the elements
nitrogen and phosphorus. The invasive species an exotic or unnatural species can be
any kind of organism that has been introduced to a foreign habitat. Exploitation
refers to the act of overharvesting species and natural resources at rates faster than
they can actually sustain themselves in the wild. Because of this, species population
is put into great risk of reduction. Then, other potential threats aside from the five
aforementioned threats, there are still a lot of drivers that may either directly or
indirectly contribute to the loss of biodiversity. This phenomenon does not only
affect wildlife but also human health as well.
Climate change affect the ecology and services to ecosystem because climate
change can change where species live, how they interact, and the timing of
biological events, which could fundamentally transform current ecosystems and
food webs.  The primary effect of habitat loss is a reduction in biodiversity. Because
as biodiversity is lost and ecosystems are degraded, the bio-capacity of the planet to
support living organisms reduces. This invasive species affect the ecology and
ecosystem because it decreased biodiversity and species extinctions linked to
invasive species threaten the continued delivery and quality of many ecosystem
services. Also, exploitation affect the ecology and ecosystem due to over harvesting
of human activities, tree-filling that can cause soil erosion, and a loss of habitat.
The news article that I chosen was the “ Invasion of the Rio Grande De Mindanao
River Snatchers” in order to sustain the ecosystem services there should be long-
term solutions of the main problem of the river which is the Rio Grande de
Mindanao. As for the immediate, evacuations are ongoing, relief aid to these
evacuation centers is being mobilized, rescue of families caught in the flooded areas
is ongoing, and the provision of food and clean drinking water is a priority. A state
of calamity is now declared in the stricken areas and evacuees are filling up
evacuation centers. Agriculture, livelihoods, commerce are incurring huge losses,
while schools are suspended. Health services will need to respond to more people as
the situation gets worse.
