UNIT 8: I LIKE SWIMMING.
LESSON 1 – PERIOD 2
I. OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able toachieve the following objectives:
1. Knowledge:
- Vocabulary: Remember the words of activities and understand their meanings.
- Structure: Memorize how to talk about the favourite activities.
2. Skills:
- Listening: Recognize the words of activities.
- Speaking: Talk about the favourite activities.
- Writing: Write the words of activities.
3. Competencies:
- Self-study: Students can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves.
- Co-operation: Students are ready to help friends in pair work/ group work.
- Communication: Students are confident in communicating with their friends/teachers.
4. Qualities:
- Be friendly and respectful to others.
- Love English, friends and teachers.
- Be honest, be confident to raise their opinion.
- Be hard-working and willing to get involved in the lesson and complete the required
exercises/tasks.

III. TEACHING PROCEDURE:
1. Warm up (5’)
1.1. Aim:
- Create a friendly and exciting atmosphere before the lesson.

- Students have positive energy to start the lesson.
1.2. Content:
- Play a warm-up song/ Play a short game
- Group division
- Class rules
1.3. Outcome:
- Students get engaged in the lesson, well behaved and stay focused

+ Who has the correct guessing will get 3 stars
for his/her team.
2. Presentation (10’): Act 4. Listen and tick ()
2.1. Aim:
- Students practice more with vocabularies about actions/ activities.
2.2. Content:
- Listen and tick
- Drilling

- Remember the words of the actions and understand their meanings.
- Get correct pronunciation.

b. cook and draw
c. run and walk
d. go fishing and take photos.
- Explain the requirement of this part, then play
track 16 - sentence a and do an example with
the class.
Class, you are going to listen to some
sentences and tick to the correct pictures.
Now, look at the pictures in a and listen. We
will do an example first.
The sentence you can hear is “I like
swimming.”. So, you will tick to picture 2 –
swim.”
- Ask students to look at page 79, Act.4, listen - Listen
to track 16 and tick the correct pictures.
- Ask students if they finish or not, then check - Listen and repeat
some random students.

- Work in pairs: one student points, one student

Game: Unscramble the letters.
Because you did a very good job so I’ll have a

scrambled letters.
- Students guess what word is and raise hands
to spell this word.
- Each correct word will get 1 star.

3. Practice (10’): Act 5. Complete the sentences.
3.1. Aim:
- Students further practice vocabularies learnt in previous activity.
- Develop students’ writing skills.
3.2. Content:
- Read and write
- Drilling
3.3. Outcome:
- Write the words of activities easily and nicely.

- Lead in: “Now look at part 5 on page 79 on - Answer the questions
your book. You have to write the words to
complete the sentences based on the pictures.”
- Revise the sentence structure by using the
software / PowerPoint or write it on the board
again:

- Ask students to look at the examples:
We like running. / I like swimming.
- Teacher can write the whole sentence on the
board / show the sentence on a PowerPoint
slide and underline the word “We – running”;
“I - swimming” to let students see the words
- Complete the sentences.
they need to write in the sentences clearly.
Remind them to use “We – I”.
- Tell students that “Now, we are going to look
at the pictures and complete the sentences”
- Ask students to look at the pictures and write
the words to complete the sentences by pencil
in 2 minutes.
- Call up students to write the answer on the
board / let students to write using the Software
- Check the answers and give compliments on
correct answer.
- Show on the screen the answers of the 5 - Practice
pictures.

- Ask students to look at the final answers and
copy to their books if they have any wrong
answers
- Call some students to point at the pictures and
speak out the whole sentences.

4. Production (8’): Act 6. Tick () what you like doing and say.
4.1. Aim:
- Help students to practice and memorize what they have learnt.
- Develop students’ speaking skills
- Develop students’ confidence
- Create a fun and productive learning environment.
4.2. Content:
- Tick to the pictures of favourite activities and say about them by using “I/We like ...”
4.3. Outcome:
- Use the learnt vocabularies and structures to talk about the favourite activities.
- Speak English in natural way and more confidently.
