BODY IMAGE

4 Aspects of Body Image

 Perceptual (how you “see” your body)

 Affective ( how you “feel” about your body)
 Cognitive (how you “think” about your body)
 Behavioral (behaviors you engage in as a result of your
body image).
 A SELF-IMAGE problem happens when your looks doesn’t
match your beauty standards.
 Ex. If you believe attractive people are slim ones and
you are not slim (but not obese) then you might believe
that you are unattractive even if others believe that
you are attractive.
 The problem here is with your own beauty standards
and not with your looks. In order to like your looks, in
such a case you must fix your false beliefs about
physical attractiveness

called me a monster define me?
Am I going to let the people who
said 'Kill it with fire' define me?"
she said. "No. I'm going to let my
goals and my success and my
accomplishments be the things
that define me. Not my outer
appearance."
Some messages about body
image
 Your body should NOT define
solely who you are.
 You are MORE THAN your
body.

nourished, protected and
kept in shape.
