What are social problems, cultural changes or traditions may have affected the art in this period.

The first that affect the art in prehistory and ancient period is their belief and religion. They
always create some sculptures, paintings and mosaic whoever or whatever they believe. Also,
during this period, they only have limited resources like in prehistoric art there are only 3 color
palettes (brown, red and yellow). Cave artist began to make recognizable representations of the
world around them (animals and themselves), in short, they created are on what they see.
Prehistoric art people used art to develop writing and for them to keep record and ceremonial or
ritual purpose that may have been drawn by artist-shamans, they use art to record important
event. In Ancient time, people in Egypt have the belief in the afterlife that led to people burying
artifacts alongside their dead. People with royalty at this time have their artwork including
hieroglyphs or wall decorations for their tombs. Egyptian art is symbolic, sculptures and art most
on this time is about afterlife, they believe at many things that affect the art at this period. New
discoveries such as bronze led to another art in Ancient China. At this time the making of art is
to represent ranks, for example four linked disks of jade were used to signify rank and social
status, being associated with the values of a gentlemen. Ancient civilizations were largely oral
cultures, even for some time after the invention of writing. Literacy was rare, written records
often held for the educated classes, but early societies recognized the need for graphic record of
their culture’s important events and stories relating to their religion. They used art to preserve
culture’s history, legend and mythology. Greeks uses sculptures for funerary monuments or
dedicated to the gods. Greek art such as sculptures have put meaning at their poses and angles.
Greek artisans search for realism and the expression of vitality in the human form. Artist in the
classical style emphasize elements of harmony, symmetry, proportion and beauty. They want
their art to sought movement, drama and expression of thought and feelings. As I said earlier
religions also affect art at this period. People have their beliefs at some religions that led them to
create sculptures of it. People at this period created poses that represents many meanings. People
at this period also uses art such as sculptures to honor military heroes or leaders, as we all know
at this period there are many wars that have been fought. At this period religion of Christianity
spread led for the people create mosaic for it. They also created mosaic for emperor and empress.
I therefore conclude that at this period beliefs, war and status of a person affects art. And the
more they honor a certain subject the more they exert effort and evolve the art.
