Nil River The Nile River is the longest river in the world, and it’s commonly known as the father of African rivers. 6,600 kilometers of water flows from southern to northern Africa and it borders around 10 territories of the continent. This majestic river helped the development of the Ancient Egypt Empire and its civilizations. 3. Catarac Hote In the novel Death on the Nile, the S.S Karnak was a steamboat that travelled through the Nile River in Egypt. This was the main setting throughout the entire story. It was inspired by the S.S Sudan, steamboat that Agatha Christie had a trip on with her husband in 1939. 4. Aswa Aswan is a city located in Egypt, and it’s located in the east bank of the Nile River. Currently, it is a winter resort, as well as an administrative, shopping, industrial and business center, since it’s persistently receiving trade from Sudan. 5. L or Old capital of Upper Egypt. The city was built around a beautiful temple for Amon, king of the gods, his wife Mut, and their son Khons. It was built near the Nile River and parallel of what it’s known today as the Temple of Luxor. This modern name given to the city means “The Palace”. 6. Lak Nasser Also known as Lake Nubia, it’s an artificial waterbody in the Nile River in Upper Egypt and northern Sudan. Its creation threatened to drown many historical monuments, like the temples and tombs of Abu Simbel. It has been stocked with fishes since its creation. 7. Ab Simbe It is the site of two temples built by King Ramses II. There are two 20 meter colossal statues of himself in both of the entrances of the main temple, and these are surrounded by smaller statues of his consort, Nefertari, their children and Ramses’ mother.
