KIDDERMINSTER COLLEGE JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Responsible to: Salary: Status: ICT Computer Support Technician Head

of ICT Services Scale 3 Support Staff Full Time

Main Duties and Responsibilities The post-holder will be responsible for the maintenance of all computer equipment and materials within the college and its outreach centres. This will include the diagnosis of faults and any remedial action necessary to ensure that the computer equipment/software is in working order. Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Colleges Virtual Learning Environment, with both Web and content design. Key tasks/Specific Duties 1. Responsible for undertaking the 1st and 2nd line hardware/software maintenance support for all ICT users within the College and its outreach centres. Undertake installation, configuration, upgrades and organise maintenance of PCs, printers and software. Undertake diagnosis and corrective action of any faults on computer equipment/software, recording any repairs requiring the services of external engineers. Update log fault database and asset registers in accordance with departmental quality standards. Undertake Web programming and maintenance as required, commensurate with post-holders skills. Assist in the development and maintenance of the Colleges Virtual Learning Environment by the collation and distribution of National Learning Network and other VLE content materials that staff and students require. Report issues of hardware/software/copyright that affect the colleges legal standing and/or website or VLE. To assist with Network/ICT Projects as and when required. Keep abreast of technical and industry developments and share such information through team discussions and briefings etc. Assist students, other staff, visitors etc. in the technicalities of providing computerised equipment and data in a training, lecturing, workshop, presentation or demonstration environment.

After appropriate training, operate the Portable Appliance Testing Machine in order to ensure that equipment from Computer Services is in accordance with agreed schedules of maintenance and safety. Undertake any cleaning and maintenance of equipment in association with this testing. To ensure the safekeeping and good condition of equipment and items entrusted to their care and report deficiencies in such equipment particularly with regard to the Health and safety at Work Act. To train any other employee in the technicalities, duties and responsibilities of the post when requested to do so. To participate in the Colleges Annual Professional Development Review scheme and undertake all appropriate training and development. To comply with College financial regulations and standing orders. To comply with all legislation including Data Protection, Health and Safety rules and regulations, Discrimination, the Colleges Equality of Opportunity Policy, Quality Assurance Policy and any other college policy and procedure. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS (a) This post requires providing technical support to evening classes and therefore the post-holder will be expected to work up to two evenings per week and on Saturdays for which time off in lieu will be given.
