what type of organizational and domain knowledge do you need to be successful as a BA for

this project?  What are the biggest knowledge gaps?

Introduction to Business Analyst
Until January 2022, I never heard of the term Business Analysis. It was a vague term and honestly, I
never bothered to learn about it. So before, I discuss the organizational and domain knowledge needed to
be a successful Business Analyst. I would like to explain the definition of business analyst because it
might be that my class fellows did not even hear of this term like me. There are several definitions to
explain what business analysis is and who is a business analyst. A business analyst is a person who
eliminates the gap between the IT and business industry by analyzing the past and present data to help the
organization reach its goal.
Organizational and Domain Knowledge Required to be a Successful BA
As a BA it is essential to identify the functional domains like banking, ecommerce, health care, and
hospitality industries. Apart from that in terms of the technical domain, the BA needs basic information
on Java, Oracle, and SQL. The basic skills required are analytical, conflict management, critical thinking,
leadership, and negotiation skills (Business Analysis for Practitioners, 2015).
Biggest Knowledge Gaps
The knowledge gap is evident because as an entry level business analyst there are certain skills and
concepts to be acquired. The lack of technical expertise which involves data mining, statistical analysis
software, and data visualization. Furthermore, the lack of business skills such as stakeholder analysis,
consultation skills and knowledge of business structure.
