In this situation, as a CFI, it would probably not be appropriate or my place to discuss the

students hygiene. However, the strong odor during flight lessons is affecting my ability to teach
effectively and is also potentially hazardous as it can be a distraction in the cockpit. In order to
address this issue, I would first privately speak with the student and express my concerns about
the odor. I would explain that it is disrupting my ability to teach and could also potentially be a
distraction during flight. I would offer to help the student find resources or support to improve
their personal hygiene, and if the issue persists and becomes a continuing problem, I may need
to consider suspending or terminating the student's flight training.
