From cold & dark to shutdown

Simplified guide for Zibo B737 on XPlane

Simulation only – not for real flight

Rev 1 - ITA 20-01-23 Marco Ramondino

This manual is aimed at those taking their first steps in simulated flight with the Boeing 737.

In particular it wants to be a first approach to essential procedures and operations for the
management of the B737 (specifically -800 Zibo for Xplane), to familiarize yourself with the
main on-board systems. However, the procedures described can be used (with slight
differences) on the whole 737 NG series (-600 -700 -800 -900) from other developers or on
different simulators.

The contents of this guide are simplified, so that beginners are able to get up and running
with a complex aircraft like the 737 and go flying. Since these are simplified procedures,
they deviate in some phases from the real ones, therefore for the most realistic reproduction
of a flight and for more complete procedures, please refer to the official checklists (which we
always recommend using).

Good flight!

The manual only deals with aircraft functions and not also with those relating to the simulator (such as views,
settings, calibrations, etc.). This guide is not a substitute for checklists.

- not for real flight -

To carry out a complete flight with this type of aircraft it is necessary to create a
flight plan and have the weather data of the departure and arrival airports.
This concise manual is a simplified guide to the minimum necessary procedures
and does not replace the checklists.

STEP 6 – CRUISE =AUTOPILOT= you must have programmed the route on the FMC

1 - AUTOPILOT
1.1 – LNAV / VNAV mode
LNAV & VNAV are the two fully automatic management modes of the aircraft: by activating these modes together, the autopilot will
follow the horizontal and vertical profiles of the route set on the FMC, without the need for any intervention by the pilot.
Specifically, the LNAV (Lateral Navigation) mode will manage the orientation by leading the aircraft from one waypoint to
another, while VNAV (Vertical Navigation) will guide the aircraft to the expected altitudes for each waypoint, with the speeds set
in the FMC.

The VNAV & LNAV modes must be

activated with the CMD key switched ON (A

which you are flying)

The autothrottle must remain

commands given time to time by the pilot.

features around the airport, winds, etc.). It is generally advisable to set it not below 500 Ft.
STEP 8 – FINAL APPROACH you must have programmed the route on the FMC

1 - AUTOPILOT ! This function can only be used if the runway is equipped with ILS.
1.3 – VOR LOC
The VOR LOC function is used to intercept the runway ILS and to horizontally align the aircraft to it for landing.
In this mode, the aircraft will line up with the runway, but the pilot will manually complete the landing by disengaging the autopilot.
In the final stretch of the approach,
