The local library has conducted a survey and collected the most frequently asked
questions on the use of Windows 8. Most of the users are familiar with Windows
7 so they are finding it difficult to understand some of the new terminologies and
methods associated with this operating system. You have been asked to conduct
a Windows 8 Basics class to address these questions and you will be recorded
during the course so that the library can upload it to their website to assist
patrons who may not be able to attend the class.
In order to prepare yourself, you need to read through the questions and
understand how to answer them appropriately. Read the tasks below and then
try to determine a good method of completing them (there may be more than one
way). Walk through each solution and provide a brief explanation (or screenshot,
if applicable) of the method used:

• How do I start up the weather app?

The answer/Press Windows+R to open the Run box (2 ) Type shell:startup and
click OK to open your Startup folder. Position it at the top-right of your screen.
Open your Start menu, and drag-drop the Weather shortcut/tile into the Startup
folder.
• What happens if an application’s tile does not show on the Start screen?

The answer/ The first thing you need to do is to check if the Desktop tile isn't
simply unpinned from the Start screen. 1. On the Start screen, press the Ctrl +
Tab keys together on the keyboard. It will switch the Start screen to the Apps
view

• Can I switch between desktop programs? How?

The answer/ here are a variety of ways to switch between open applications in
Windows 8. Put the mouse cursor in the very top, left-hand corner, where a small
preview of another open program appears. Just keep clicking in the very corner
until you reach the open application you want to view …

• Where is the best place to go for Support and Help if I need it?

The answer/ The Help+Tips app is included in Windows 8.1 ,, It’s got all the info
you need to get going, along with links to more help and support on
Windowscom, The app is divided into six main sections .. “Start and apps”
explains the Start screen and where to get more apps
“Get around” talks about how to do things like switching between apps and
closing apps ^Basic actions^ covers the charms and using apps side-by-side

• How do you ‘snap’ an app on the screen using the shortcut menu?
