Table
- A display of numerical information in rows and columns
- A frequency table summarizes the entries in each category

Content: Business data present them in graphs, charts, and tables

MELC: The learners:

1. Compare the forms (textual, tabular and graphical) of business data
2. Analyze and interprets the data presented in the table using measures of
central tendency and variability and tests of significant differences
3. Describe the different kinds of graphs and its essential parts for data
presentation.
4. Give a set of business data; identify graphs to be used
5. Draw the graph/table to present data
6. Analyze and interpret the data presented in a graph/table
7. Use software (i.e., MS Excel, SPSS) programs to compute and present Line Graph
graphical representation of business data - Uses line segments to connect data points. One axis is usually related to time (year, month,
day or clock time)
Lesson 1: Presentation and Analysis of Business Data - It is useful in showing the trends or in determining relationships between two variables

Business and Chart Graphs

As a prize for being a consistent top student in Grade 11, Veronica received $100 from her aunt in
Virginia, USA. Thinking of saving her dollars for the rainy days, she studied the Philippine peso (₱) –
US dollar ($) watch from fx-exchange.com. Let us help Veronica decide on the best time to
exchange her US$ for ₱.

Bar Graph
- A bar graph uses rectangles erected on the horizontal axis to summarize a set of quantitative
data. Several bars can be created to compare different quantity of data.
2

Area Chart
- Uses shaded region to display quantitative data graphically and independently

Pie Chart
- Is a circular-pie-like graphic representation with wedges or sectors to show how much of the
whole each part makes up.
- called a circle graph
- It is a circle with the wedges or sectors to show how much of the whole each part makes up
To get the measure of each sector, we compute the following:

Chart Interpretation

1. Between History and Physics which topic took longer; or did they require equal time?
2. What percentage of time did the student spend on English and Health homework? Lesson 2: Essential Parts of a Line Graph
3. Was the History and Physics work or the Biology and Art work longer; or were they equally
time consuming? 1. Title – heading written on top of the graph
4. If the student spent 100 minutes on homework, how many minutes were spent on Art? 2. Scale – on the x-axis which indicates the units of time and on the y-axis which indicates the
5. Combined, which two topics required the greatest amount of time? units of frequency
2. Labels – the variables on the x- and y-axes
Histogram 3. Data points – usually derived from a measurement or research and can be presented
- Is a graphical representation of the frequency distribution numerically and/or graphically
- The rectangles are of equal width since the class mark is used to represent the class intervals 4. Line – create the line by connecting all the data points
5. Description – explanation of your graph

Title of the Activity: Summative Test

Directions: Read the instructions carefully.

Test I. Answer the following questions by highlighting the answer in the puzzle.

Pictograph
- Uses pictures or symbols to represent quantitative data. Each symbol corresponds to a
specific quantity.

1. This refers to the graphs that are used to show numerical facts in a simple and informative way.
2. This form of presenting data displays numerical information in rows and columns.
3. It uses line segments to connect data points. One axis is usually related to time (year, month,
day or clock time)
