What should we do for sustainable

development in Jalgaon?
Jalgaon is a city in Maharashtra, India. The city is located in North
Maharashtra, and serves as the administrative headquarters of its
namesake district, the Jalgaon district. Jalgaon is colloquially known as
the “Banana City of India" as the region's (Jalgaon district) farmers
grow approximately two-thirds of Maharashtra's banana production.
Jalgaon is situated in the Khandesh region of North Maharashtra. In
1906 Khandesh was divided between East Khandesh and West
Khandesh, and Jalgaon became the headquarters of East Khandesh
district. After the 1956 reorganisation of India's states, East Khandesh
became part of Bombay State and later in 1960 it became part of
Maharashtra.

 Environment of Jalgaon:
Jalgaon has a hot semi-arid climate owing to the rain shadow of
the Western Ghats. There are three seasons in Jalgaon: the sweltering
and arid “hot” season from March to mid-June, the hot and steamy
“wet” under the monsoon from mid-June to September, and the hot and
dry “cool” season from October to February. Recording the highest
temperature in April- May ranging (47.2- 48.4C) degrees Celsius and
recording lowest temperature in the month of November to December
ranging (5- 1.7C), and in the monsoon recording the maximum rainfall
in season of July to September ranging up to 10.9- 12.3% precipitation.
As we know the temperature in Jalgaon is very hot and humid which
affects the city environment and people too, as the transportation is one
of the causes to increase the environmental warming and increasing the
temperature by emitting CO2 from the vehicles. One of the solutions for
the sustainable environment of the Jalgaon can be the increase of the
intercity buses due to which the individual transport on the road can be
overcome which can reduce the vehicles numbers and the CO2
emissions and reducing the temperature in the environment, also we
can create paths for bicycles, sidewalks and encouraging citizens to walk
more which can affect their health too.
Also, we can encourage people to utilize more electrical vehicles, other
way can be providing access to public resources and green pocket spaces
inside the city.

 Social activities of Jalgaon:

As can be seen in the city now a days more and more people are
getting encouraged in participating in the NGOs to achieve goal of clean
and sustainable environment. There are some of the social clubs in the
Jalgaon which works to achieve the same goals which can help the
environment, such as Rotary club Jalgaon, Inner wheel club and, etc.
So, to make the city be sustainable we can encourage the citizens
to participate in such activities occasionally and by creating a chain such
as this it helps in create big impact. Activities as such these should be
socially displayed and so to let people realize the real situation of the
climate and environment inside the city. “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” may
feel retro, but it’s just as important today as when the phrase was first
coined. Every product we purchase has an environmental footprint,
from the materials used to create it to the pollution emitted during
manufacturing to the packaging that ends up in landfills.

 Planning of Jalgaon-
The approach to make the planning of the Jalgaon city has been
tried for many times. But the steps for planning the Jalgaon city a
sustainable are one of the major one to discuss. Climate planning this
helps in identifying the key emission source’s locations within the city,
develop strategies and actions to reduce those emissions for a low
carbon future, assess climate adaptation risks, and implement actions to
address key risk exposer.
The smart green city planning enables to advance energy and
technology solutions that minimize environmental impact, save
money, and support the integration of smart technologies to create
more resilient urban infrastructure. Acting as an impartial partner and
project manager, DNV can help your city create and implement a
master plan that embodies your city’s unique vision and priorities
across various city plans and departments, leveraging process (such as
capital improvements and budgeting, as well as data management and
analysis) to create a culture of innovation, efficiency, and
sustainability.
Encouraging the maximum use of solar, the switch to clean energy
is essential for cities to become sustainable. Solar farms can improve air
quality in a city while also providing renewable energy to citizens and
municipal facilities. Solar energy also creates well-paying jobs and
stimulates economic growth. Introducing green building system in the
cities cause 30% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions come from
buildings. Green buildings reduce CO2 emissions, they also require
maintenance and have cheaper water and electric bills. These cost
benefits, along with additional tax incentives, have allowed green
building construction to become widespread without the use of
government mandates.
Resourceful urban water management is also a characteristic of
sustainable cities. Over 90% of the world’s urban centres are near
coastal areas. While this puts these cities at greater risk of natural
disasters and climate change threats, it also opens the door for better
use of these nearby water sources.

Here are some water conservation practices cities can adopt:

• Rainwater harvesting
• Green infrastructure
• Waterless hardware

Green infrastructure uses the natural water cycle to create clean

water sources in place of a water treatment plant. For example,
restoring wetlands and planting trees can reduce the need for
manmade flood infrastructure such as leaves.

 Economics of Jalgaon-
A sustainable economy is one that is resilient and provides a
good quality of life for everybody. It stays within the limits of the
planet and helps keep global warming within the well below 2C
threshold. One big obstacle to investments in clean energy is complex
and burdensome regulation. It is guided and constrained by
ecological, social, and economic principles. Its services holism,
diversity, and interdependence; for example, economic sustainability
ensures the extraction of natural materials is less than or equal to the
growth of renewable resources, and waste can be assimilated and
used productively. Economic sustainability relies on four principles,
growth, development, productivity, and trickle-down. Some social
and ethical values have monetary value, thus can be internalized into
the economy. However, others, such as personal relationships and
stewardship of clean water, are hard to calculate their economic
value.
