TROSIFOL® UV+

english
LETTING IN THE LIGHT
SO THAT LIFE CAN THRIVE
Ultraviolet (UV) light is invisible to the human eye.
It is both vital yet potentially hazardous. Excessive
exposure to this spectrum of natural light can
damage the human skin. This is why polyvinyl
butyral films in laminated safety glass provide
protection from UV radiation.

Nonetheless, many organisms, terrestrial and

aquatic, need UV light. Honeybees and bumble-
bees can see within the UV range and thus find
their way to the centre of seemingly indistinguish-
able parts of flowers. Very short-wave UV light kills
germs and is therefore used in the quarantine
zones of many zoos. Birds need UV light for naviga-
tion.

LIGHT AND SAFETY
For several years now, Kuraray Europe GmbH has been aware of growing demand for UV-
permeable glass solutions. In these special applications, both UV transmittance and safety
are important. Thanks to the application of expertise from the TROSIFOL® photovoltaic
product range, a film is now available with maximum UV transmittance for the architectur-
al sector. While satisfying the requirements of the building authorities, it admits the full
natural spectrum of solar radiation. This is important for applications in the botanical,
zoological, life science and health sectors.

As a result of the proven long service life of laminated safety glass containing TROSIFOL®
PVB films, this highly transparent film with its outstanding UV transmittance fills a gap in
non-standard architectural applications.

As a film, non-crosslinking thermoplastic PVB displays exceptional optical properties

coupled with excellent and long-lasting adhesion to glass. It is also distinguished by its
impressive resistance to impact, UV and weathering while effectively withstanding other
environmental influences.
