QUALIFICATION
- Doctoral or Masteral degree in Guidance and Counseling
- 3 years of teaching experience in Guidance and Counseling and/or full time counseling
practice for the same period.

Subjects:
- Counseling Theories, Tools and techniques
- Organization and administration of Guidance Services
- Psychological testing and measurement
- Group process / Group facilitating and career guidance

- Completed academic requirements for master’s degree in guidance and counseling and
had 5 years experience as full time guidance counselor.

C. ROLES OF GUIDANCE COUNSELORS

As Wise Planner
- He / she must be the one who designs viable programs for the school, where, with due
support from the administration and collaboration from the teachers, desired goals for
learning will be likely attained.

As an Agent of Change
- Leads the change in a counselees behaviour or in his direction in life

As Career / Vocation Specialist


- Come to him / her for information

As Community Service Liason


- part of his task is to tap the community resources and other support agencies

As Consultant
- Thought to be one trained in consultant services, a counsellor is considered a consultant in
school, the community and in the work place where guidance services are needed.

- Routine Interview
- Organize and conduct Group Counseling
- Coordinates and runs enrichment/ training
- Helps administer and interpret tests
- Updates (IIR) individual inventory record
- Asses needs as basis for activities
- Holds consultation and coordination activities
- Collects and disseminates information to the appropriate persons
- Writes reports, keeps records
- Follow up clients
- Places students in appropriate academic, social and occupational programs and settings
- Conducts research and evaluation
- Refers client to more qualified experts

A. Education:

AB/BS psychology
- Have a training on test administration, processing and interpretation on the ff:
- Standardize Intelligence test
- Achievement test
- Aptitude
- Interest tests
- Personality Test
- EQ Test

B. Skills and Competencies

- Appropriate diction and pronunciation
- Voice modulation and projection
- Clerical skills for correcting and recording tests and their results accurately
- Motivational skills for encouraging examinees to take test seriously
- Organizational skills for scheduling, administering and processing test and their results
