2 SAFETY

Note the following safety items when working with V3F18 drive system:

• Refer to AM-01.03.002 "Take 5 Electrical Safety When Working on the Elevators". The Take 5 safety
initiative is designed for installation, servicing, maintenance and modernisation work done on the lifts.
• Cover of the drive module must be kept closed always when not working with the module, even if the
main power has been switched OFF.
• Power must be turned OFF 5 min. before removing protection shields. NOTE that led “DANGER” on
the inverter board can not be seen.
• Prevent reconnection of possible emergency power supplies etc.
• Check that there is no voltage (AC) in terminals of the contactor 201:1. Check operation of the tester
before and after the test.
• Voltage level 380-440 VAC.
• Check that there is no voltage (DC) in the intermediate circuit between plus (+) and minus (-)
conductors. Also in the motor and braking resistor terminals). Check operation of the tester before
and after the test.
• Voltage level 550-750 VDC.
• Do not continue the work after opening the covers of the drive unit before checking that all circuits
are safely de-energized.
• Safety must be ensured with additional fences or guarding, depending on the site conditions.
• Ensure that the working site do not cause a danger to the outsiders in the staircase! It is strongly
recommended to use additional fences or guarding to prevent dangerous situations. E.g. the
outsiders enter the working zone or some parts or tools cause risks of tripping on the landing.
• Use temporary insulation shields or fences. In case that there are unprotected live parts in the vicinity
of the working zone.

WARNING
High voltage (750 VDC) remains in the power components (Intermediate
circuit) about 5 minutes after power cut.
Before starting actual work check using a proper voltage tester that all
electrical circuits are safely de-enegized or protected.
All possible power sources; Mains power supply, separate power supply for
lighting, emergency power supply etc

3 ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

System contains hazardous waste material (for example replaced capacitors). Waste material must be
taken care of according to the local requirements and KONE Environment Policy.
