Group Project - Ogl 320
Group Project - Ogl 320
This project is to plan, organize, and host a child’s birthday party that will provide
great memories for all in attendance. Having great food and fun things to do are
important features, as well as getting some great photos to share with family
members who cannot attend. We aim to keep all guests engaged for the duration
of the party, not to exceed 4 hours, and have all guests out the door by 1700 pm.
Guest list will be limited to 12 children, ranging in ages from 10 to 12 years old.
Party to be held on one of two weekends, either just before or just after birthday on
March 15th.
-Stakeholders:
-Objectives(SMART Goals)
● Total costs for the party, including all food and supplies, not to exceed
$400.00 US.
● Location to be chosen based on number of RSVPs and weather forecasts.
If rain is expected or less than 8 children RSVP, the party will be held at
Chuck-E-Cheese. Otherwise, the party will be held in our backyard.
● Good Weather
● At least 10 children in attendance
-Procurement Plan (a list of the resources and materials needed for your event,
including jobs that may warrant contracting out to an external source. There is no need
to include the actual cost estimates)
● Go to party city two weeks prior to the event and buy pinata, decorations,
games, party hats, and prizes.
● Call Bounce-house rental place and pay deposit
● Prepare food day prior

There are several dependencies within the project. The main relationship is
around selection of food. This cannot be determined until the location is
finalized, which is dependent on both the weather and the number of guests who
RSVP. This creates constraints on both sides: We can't make the plan too early
(weather may change) and we can't finalize too late (guests won’t know where to
show up). All other details, such as decorations, entertainment, and activities, are
also dependent on whether the party is being held at our house or at
Chuck-E-Cheese.
On the Critical path, there are several Items. Creating/Sending out invitations,
collecting RSVPs, reviewing weather forecasts for weekends, agreeing on the
emergency back-up location, and checking availability of location are all the tasks
required to guarantee we meet the stated objective of “plan, organize, and host a
child’s birthday party that will provide great memories for all in attendance.” Our
plan B is to move the whole party to Chuck-E-Cheese. This plan B scenario would
take approximately 8 hours to plan, 2 hours to execute (minus travel time) and
cost between $215.92 and $323.88, still coming in within the time and budget
constraints.
