Saylor Thompson was one of the record number 85 wrestlers competing this past Saturday. While there were
Highlanders in action during the Glasgow Wrestling Club tears and smiles throughout the day, Saylor’s Dad Rocky
Invitational which also featured a new record of 472 pointed out that there were lots more smiles than tears!

Governor Gianforte Opposes President Biden’s WOTUS Rule

Along with 24 other governors,
Governor Greg Gianforte yesterday
urged President Joe Biden to delay
implementation his Waters of the
United States (WOTUS) rule until
the U.S. Supreme Court issues a
ruling Sackett v. EPA. The governors
cited the rule’s harmful impact
on communities, small business
owners, farmers, and ranchers
throughout the country, especially
with inflation at a high not seen in
over a generation.
“The WOTUS definition has
been under scrutiny for nearly twenty
years, and your Administration’s
rule only further complicates the
efforts to create certainty under
the CWA [Clean Water Act] for
rural communities,” Governor
Gianforte and the governors wrote
in a letter to President Biden. “The
problem is exacerbated by the
pending Supreme Court ruling.
The final WOTUS rule released
during the holidays is concerning
in terms of timing, substance, and

Counting our blessings to live here
Sorry, but I don’t have anything snarky today.
LeRoy and I were driving around our Glasgow town
the other day and realized how blessed and grateful we
are to have our town, our county, and “most” of our
state. (o.k., a little snarky).
We have a Governor that sincerely cares for
Montana and her people. He is pro-life, he is protecting
our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, and there is
even talk about some tax relief for us!
We have Daines, Rosendale and Zinke who have
been voting to protect us from the phony big brothers
of the federal government.
Locally, many of the potholes have been fixed.
We have really good restaurants. One voted best in
the state two years in a row. Congratulations, Eugene’s.
We have businesses that are as stocked with
inventory as much as possible in this crazy time. Their
employees are friendly and helpful.
We don’t have homeless people. We don’t have
gangs. It is safe to walk down our streets and not have
to go around garbage and human feces like in some of
the major cities.
Our weather is interesting. Changes in temperature
of up to 60 degrees in a few hours. Snow, ice, fog,
and sometimes rain. But we don’t have hurricanes,
tornadoes ( well a couple over the years), or tsunamis.
(we won’t talk about mosquitoes)
We have many good things for our young people.
Girl and Boy Scouts. FFA, and 4-H. These kids have
busy devoted parents!
Our medical facility does a good job. The
ambulance crew is the best, especially in outlying areas
like Opheim and Hinsdale.
We have an amazing museum in town, an
interpretation center near the beautiful Kiwanis Park,
and a Veterans Memorial in Fort Peck that salutes
all our servicemen and women. Our tourist sites are
numerous, and our Chamber of Commerce promotes
us.
Fort Peck Dam gives everyone hours of
entertainment whether swimming, fishing, boating,
camping or just looking at the grandeur of the area.
For us, last but most important, our churches have
ministers and congregations that hold us all in prayer.
We are truly blessed to live here.
