Set Induction

The teacher will start the lesson by singing the alphabet. She will then ask students if they know
the song she just sang. After they have responded with the correct answer, students will be asked
to think about the alphabet; giving each student an opportunity to recite the alphabet.

The teacher will then explain to the students that today we will be learning about the letter B
Learning Activities/Experiences

 The teacher will ask the students if they know what the alphabet is used for. After
listening to the responses the teacher will then tell students that we use the alphabet to put
words together by placing the letters in a certain order.
 The teacher will explain to the students that each letter in the alphabet makes a special
sound and we use that sound when we read and write words.
 With the letter Bb written on the board the teacher will make the sound the b makes and
also say a couple of words that start with the letter B (book, bottle, bird, bet)
 Students will write 10 words of things that begin with the letter Bb

Differentiated Learning Activities /Experiences

 The teacher will ask the students if they know what the alphabet is used for. After

words together by placing the letters in a certain order.
 The teacher will explain to the students that each letter in the alphabet makes a special
sound and we use that sound when we read and write words.
 With the letter Bb written on the board the teacher will make the sound the b makes and
also say a couple of words that start with the letter B (book, bottle, bird, bet)
 Students will be encouraged to air draw the letter B in both capital and common letters
 Students will be shown pictures of things that begin with Bb to identify
 Students will be given a worksheet with the letter B to trace
