AN ORDER REORGANIZING THE BARANGAY NUTRITION COUNCIL

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2 of Presidential Decree No. 491 as amended,

declared that “nutrition is now a priority of the government to be implemented by all
branches of the government in an integrated manner”;

WHEREAS, DILG MC. No. 89-47 mandates the Organization/Reorganization of

Barangay Nutrition Committee;

WHEREAS, to support the call of better health and nutrition in the barangay
especially among children, it is imperative to organize the Barangay Nutrition Council
to address and mitigate the nutritional concerns of the barangay.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ________________________, Punong Barangay of

Barangay _____________, Calayan, Cagayan, by virtue of the powers vested in me
by law, do hereby order the reorganization of the Barangay Nutrition Council.

Section 1. Composition. The Barangay Nutrition Council shall be composed of the

Section 2. Duties and Functions. The BNC shall have the following functions:

 Organize the barangay network;

 Prepare a spot map of the barangay;
 Formulate a barangay nutrition action plan (BNAP) and translate into action
programs;
 Coordinate the nutrition activities of the barangay;
 Conduct Operation Timbang (OPT) under the supervision of the rural health
unit;
 Organize specific groups to implement the nutrition intervention activities and
assess progress;
 Monitor and evaluate the implementation of nutrition
activities/projects/program in the barangay; and
 Hold regular quarterly meetings to monitor program performance.

Section 3. Funding Support. Funding support for the Barangay Nutrition Council
(BNC) shall be charged against the fund of the Barangay Government subject to
availability of funds and to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Section 4. Effectivity. This order takes effect immediately.

Let copies of this Executive Order be furnished to all concerned for their information,
reference and guidance.
