Lesson Plan

Topic: Life Cycle of A Plant

Objectives:

 Analyze the growth process of plants from the first stage of planting the
seed(cognitive)
 Demonstrate knowledge of the changes that occur during plant growth and
development (affective)
 Dismantle a plant to identify its main parts( psychomotor)
 Listen attentively to a video presentation on the life cycle of plants(Affective)

Differentiated Objectives:

 Observe the changes that occur during plant growth and development (Cognitive)
 Sequence the stages of plant life (psychomotor)
 Listen attentively to a video presentation on the life cycle of plants(Affective)
 Dismantle a plant to identify its main parts( psychomotor)

Set Induction

Students will walk in the class and see different fruits and vegetables displayed along with
their bean and melon plants they planted previously.  The students will be asked to play a
game of what came first the seed or the fruit.  After one round the teacher will introduce the
topic of The Life Cycle of A Plant

 Students will engage in a video on the life cycle of a plant

 Students will then be asked what part of the plant bears the fruit
 Students will be asked to discuss the different seeds and their shapes and colour for
the difference and similarities.

 Students will engage in a video on the life cycle of a plant

 Students will be asked to look at their bean plants and identify the parts of the plant:
roots, stems, leaves, and flowers.
 Students will examine the inside of fruits that have been cut to expose their seeds to
better understand that seeds develop inside fruits. 
 Students will sequence pictures in the correct order to demonstrate the life cycle of a
plant
