Frame within
01
a frame.
Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de
Cebu

The employment of visual components in a

scene to border a subject and further
focus attention on them is known as a
frame inside a frame. The first frame is the
exact shape and boundary of the entire
image, as you can see in the image I've
provided. The name is derived from the
creation of the second frame within the
image.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

LEADING
02 LINES
Cebu City, Central Visayas

One of the most useful photography

features are leading lines. With their help,
one may produce photos that have a
significant visual effect. Leading lines aid
in capturing the viewer's attention and
directing it to the main subject of the
picture. They're also a great way to add
symmetry and depth. The leading lines in
the illustration are those found in the
highways and bridges that follow them.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

RULE OF
03
THIRDS
CEBU CITY, CENTRAL VISAYAS
According to the rule of thirds, your
subject should be in the left or right third
of your image, leaving the other two thirds
more open. Although there are alternative
compositional methods, the rule of thirds
usually results in interesting and well-
composed pictures. Instead of only gazing
at the center, using the rule of thirds leads
the viewer's eye deeper into the
composition. Off-centering my subject also
allows me to embrace more white space.
The rule of thirds is useful for drawing
attention to an eye-catching background.

CENTERED
COMPOSITION
04
/SYMMETRY
Maritima Ruins

By centering my subject in the frame so

that it divides in half, either horizontally or
vertically. This composition gives your
image an aesthetically pleasant balance
because of its perfect symmetry. The
horizontal symmetry of this inside
photograph makes the left and right half of
the image symmetrical to one another.
Symmetry makes anything appear nice,
tidy, and clinical and is a definition of
cleanliness, proportion, and balance.

DIAGONALS
05 AND
TRIANGLES
SM SEASIDE CEBU CITY
By their very nature, triangles and diagonal
lines are more dynamic than straight or
horizontal lines, which suggest power,
tranquility, and stability. The use of
diagonal lines in photography gives the
image a sense of movement and helps
draw the viewer's attention to the topic. It
conveys various emotions, including
stability, anger, and instability.

FOREGROUND
INTEREST AND
06 DEPTH
Magellan's Cross Pavilion Cebu City

By including the area nearest to the camera,

foreground interest enhances a landscape photograph.
The observer may be drawn into the scene and given a
sense of depth by the attention in the lower third of the
image. More of the scene in the foreground adds to the
location's understanding. A properly layered
foreground in an image anchors it, improves the
composition, influences mood, and can have an
impact. It provides the eye with a jumping off point
from which to explore other visual layers.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

SIMPLIFY-
KNOW YOUR
07
FOCUS
Maritima ruins
In photography, simplicity refers to
removing elements from a scene that don't
enhance the image. The composition of a
photograph, whether one that you are
taking or one that has already been taken,
can be simplified. In the image I took, I
simplified the background to draw
attention to the subject of interest and aid
viewers in understanding and appreciating
it.

PATTERNS AND
08
TEXTURES
Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de
Cebu

Patterns, colors, and depth are the main focuses of

texture photography, and each and every aspect of a
texture has a huge impact on how the viewer interprets
the image as a whole. A wonderful texture is created by
the interaction of these complex details, intriguing
patterns, brilliant hues, and a satisfying depth. The tiles
in the image accentuate special patterns, give visual
appeal, or even arouse feelings. There are various types
of photography that intersect with texture photography,
from fine art to traditional portraiture. In macro
photography, texture is also significant.

WATCH THE
BACKGROUND

This frequently entails just focusing on the
background of our subjects when taking
photographs. Sadly, the full solution is not
at all straightforward. The subject should
always be the main focus of a photograph.
It's in the background of the picture's main
topic. Success in photography depends on
proper design and application. When
possible, recent trends minimize
backdrops to draw attention to the main
subject.

RULES OF
ODDS
Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de

States that an odd number of subjects, as

opposed to an even number, will result in
a more engaging and aesthetically pleasing
composition when including a group of
subjects in your photograph. Here, the
scene contains three statues that adhere
to the rule of odds. and the frame has a
nice appearance. Therefore, three
subjects are where it excels.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

FILLING THE
FRAME
11 Lahug Cebu City

The art of framing a picture so that

positive space fills the majority or the
entire frame is known as filling the frame.
The opposite of using negative space in a
composition is filling the frame. Positive
space is sometimes framed close up so
that the single subject practically fills the
frame. This image creates the subject's
context, removes superfluous distractions,
and adds a dynamic aspect.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

LEAVE
NEGATIVE
12 SPACE
CEBU CITY HALL

One of the most effective strategies to strengthen

your composition in photography is to use
negative space. It can be used to draw in viewers
and evoke a certain emotion. It refers to the area
surrounding the focal point of your photograph.
In a sense, the viewer's eyes are led by the use of
negative space since it establishes the proper
relationship between the focus point and the
background. This may lead to visuals that are
busier or more complicated. In this scenario, the
topic is surrounded by huge plain sections of the
image, like the sky, which draws your attention to
it even more.
COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES

BALANCE

Magellan's Cross Pavilion Cebu City

Assembling the pieces in the frame to

produce equal visual weight across the
image is the composition technique known
as balance. An element's visual weight
fundamentally represents the viewer's
interest to it. the result of moving the
frame and placing the topics inside it in
opposition to one another so that the
objects, tones, and colors have equal
visual importance. When all of the subject
matter equally commands the viewer's
attention, the image is balanced.

SOME NAMES FOR IT. IT FACILITATES
THE VIEWER'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE

BE MORE VISUALLY APPEALING AND
WELL-BALANCED.

RULE OF SPACE
Cebu City, Central Visayas
15
The act of adding visual space in front of
the direction that an object is moving,
looking, or pointing in order to imply
motion and direction and to lead the
viewer's eye is known as the rule of space
in photography. Allow negative space in
the subject's direction of gaze to draw
your viewer's attention. It works nicely to
keep the car's eyes on the road.

GETTING HORIZONS
HORIZONTAL
Cebu City, Central Visayas
16

A HORIZONTAL LINE IS A SIMPLE,

UNCURVED PATH THAT CROSSES THE
FRAME DIRECTLY FROM LEFT TO
RIGHT. THE EARTH'S HORIZON, THE
VISIBLE LINE THAT DIVIDES THE LAND
FROM THE SKY, IS THE MOST
FREQUENTLY UTILIZED HORIZONTAL
LINE
