STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
There are several downsides to studying online that demonstrate why Online
Distance Learning is detrimental to learning for the Grade 8 students of ADT
Montessori school.

This includes the person who is responsible for a student's mental and physical
health. Also because they spend so much time staring at a screen, that’s why
students don't get enough exercise.

Some of the students are unable to participate actively in class because they
are afraid of saying anything incorrectly.

Since it is not face to face, the students are having a hard time to socialize
with their classmates, which leads to social isolation that can lead to a
variety of mental health issues such as excessive stress, and anxiety.

classes
INSTRUMENTATION
The researchers used an interview survey
to obtain data since it allows the group
to see what the representatives'
experiences are. Also, because the
survey is followed by a list of
questions that have to be answered
directly, the researcher's interview
schedule is semi-structured.

The researchers will use Google Forms,

to create survey questionnaires for data
collection purposes, that will be
answered by the participants
FINDINGS (GENERAL)
Based on the surveys that the researchers have conducted, it shows
that the students have experience drawbacks through Online
Distance Learning. Such as lack of self-control, discipline,
dependence on technology, internet connectivity issues, lack of
motivation, and many more. All that are mentioned are some of the
drawbacks that hinder these students from learning properly in the
midst of the pandemic.

However, the Grade 8 students said that the new learning modality
does indeed help students to learn but many of the students said
that they are finding it difficult to focus on their study.
Therefore, the said new learning procedure does help some students
but majority of them doesn’t. That’s why, most of the students
still prefer face-to-face classes than online learning.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Online Distance Learning has many drawbacks in the
Grade 8 students of ADT Montessori School, Inc. Even though they have
already adapted the new learning modality, there are some problems
that they are going through. Two of the most mentioned problems they
encounter during Online Classes are internet connection/unstable
connection and the feeling of being unmotivated/uninspired. In the
two years where Online Distance Learning was implemented, the
students faced several difficulties that came with its limitations.

Online Distance Learning has also greatly affected the Grade 8

students in ways where they are experiencing breakdowns, mental
exhaustion, and even depressions from facing the screen too much and
continuous school work without having enough rest and physical
activities. It is necessary that proper guidance and support, both,
from family and community should be given to students.
RECOMMENDATION
With regards to the research study, it is recommended for the
students who are struggling in this kind of learning, which is
online distance learning, that people should get used to the

education system that we are using, and its drawbacks, because

of the situation that we are experiencing right now. It is
important to highlight how to handle the curriculum while giving
the students good quality education as much as possible.

The researchers are still uncertain when this pandemic will end.
However, after checking the results of the surveys, it has been
shown that online distance learning has given more disadvantages

than advantages to the students. Although many students have

already adjusted to the new learning modality, many still favor
face-to-face classes over online distance learning.
