Distriet Early Interve Centres (DEIC) are being established at District Hospitals across the country. The purpose of DEIC is to evaluate and manage all children below the age of 6 years by providing medical therapy, physiotherapy, psychological therapy, vision and hearing therapy, dental therapy, nutritional therapy etc. under one roof in near proximity. The idea behind carly intervention is to initiate early management and minimising the progression of delays towards disability. In the postnatal years, the cognitive growth and development of the child is at its greatest in the first two to three years.
