In this class, we will reinforce our last week’s discussion on process analysis tools and key
process measures – flow time, flow rate, and inventory as well as Little’s Law for linking
these three important performance measures. We will next take up the Raffles Health Mini
Case. Please review the case and prepare the questions at the end.
Next, we will look at various models for process analysis. We will review models for
analyzing impact of setup times and variability. We will also look at cases for inventory
buildup with predictable variability i.e., process stages with mismatches in capacity. We will
discuss alternate process designs for an auto insurance company. Finally, we will link process
flows with the financial performance of companies.
