Fabritek Chart

Explanation of the Chart:

The above chart describes how units will be processed at the milling operation for the Pilgrim order in the Fabritek
case. Four milling cuts are required in the process and as described in the case, these are performed on all parts in
the fixed order shown above on the four milling machines. External times and internal times are incurred at each
of the operations (as described in the case) and external times have been arbitrarily split at the beginning and at
the end (see chart above). The cycle on the 4 machines runs in a synchronized manner and will be completed at
4.41 minutes. At that point, completed parts move successively to the next machine e.g., part completed on
machine 1 moves to machine 2, part completed on machine 2 moves to machine 3 and so on. The part completed
on machine 4 moves to the next stage in the process (i.e., drilling-grinding) implying that the entire drilling
operation has been completed on this part. The whole cycle then repeats itself as before.
