Postgraduate Diploma in Civil Engineering,Massey University

This is the world that we live in, one filled with large buildings, skyscrapers,
highways roads and transportation systems.During the High School I wanted to
become engineer, I definitely took Civil Engineering because we work together with
several persons graduated in different majors, that build you a solid personality and
reinforce your knowledge and we can be involved in numerous projects. That’s why
PostGraduate Diploma at Massey University, will empower my career and allow me
to develop new further skills in the field.
The education I received from my teachers is at once comprehensive and in-
depth, covering all the important fields of civil engineering. Apart from such core
courses as Construction of Buildings and Reinforced Concrete, I have also been very
interested in courses related to mechanics and mathematics like Structural Analysis,
Strength of Materials, Fluids Mechanics and the greatest approach of Finite Element
Analysis. Finally, Computer Aided Design, equally attracted me.
I believe that by pursuing this PostGraduate Diploma at Massey University
will broaden my perspectives, in and outside the field of civil engineering. Those
perspectives will let me have a clearer idea about the limitations of my own country
and possible improvements that we can make. My three-year of study in civil
engineering has equipped me with a solid academic foundation mostly during
several projects we’ve done from Building’s Design to Metallic Construction and
my final project of study where I have to Design a bridge of 12meters length, the
loads to take in account is totally different from what we have in common buildings.
In addition to that, my practical experiences and English proficiency, plus my strong
motivation, those are three major factors that will ensure my success in the proposed
program. After I earn my Master’s degree, I intend to start gain more experiences in
many fields of civil engineering mostly structural, geotechnical, environmental and
transportation systems but I would like to carry out research in structural engineering
and geotechnical engineering.
