The shear line and northeast monsoon are still expected to bring rain showers and
thunderstorms over the eastern part of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric,
Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Feb.
1.

Eastern Visayas and Caraga may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers
and thunderstorms due to the shear line—the boundary between cold air from the
northeast monsoon and warm air from the easterlies.

The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” may also bring cloudy and rain weather over
Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.

Those in areas affected by the shear line and amihan are advised to remain vigilant
during moderate to heavy rains as they may cause flooding or landslides.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas may
experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light amihan rains.

The rest of Mindanao may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain
showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or
landslides during severe thunderstorms.
