BA 176 FINAL EXAM

1. What is the contribution of Sales Management to Marketing and to business as a

whole? Kindly cite examples of insights salespersons can give management
which will prove useful in overall operations.

Sales management is critical in determining the direction of future operations.

The activity offers senior executives with accurate estimations and data that they
may use to make marketing decisions and establish sales and profit targets. A
company's financial accomplishments and sales management are linked
(economicsdiscussion.net, 2022). When confronted with a problem, salespeople
might debate with management which course of action to follow. Furthermore,
salespeople can supply insight on a management task strategy and techniques that
can be most optimized to accelerate profit maximization.

2. Based on your readings and observations, how has the pandemic and the new
normal affected sales managers’ planning and decision-making? What should
they consider when transitioning to face-to-face or blended operations? Kindly
focus on one local business you are familiar with.

In general, sales methods are shifting from a physical to a virtual environment.

These techniques, which were formerly focused on studying customer behavior via
lenses, have now been tweaked, modified, and refocused on how managers may
better understand consumers behind their devices. Previously, marketers could only
deduce customer characteristics and behavior from their nonverbal behaviors and
gestures. Despite the huge amount of information available online, salespeople
should be prepared with technology inputs to best optimize algorithms, internet, and
social media activities, and target customers. Local food merchants, restaurant
chains, cafeterias, and even food and beverage industry behemoths have used
partnerships with local meal delivery services to increase sales during the epidemic.
For example, Starbucks just announced a Regional Partnership with Grab to
Improve Starbucks Customer Experience in Southeast Asia. The partnership's
culture is then ingrained, such as the continuance of the Starbucks Rewards Benefit.
Through GrabPay, GrabRewards, GrabFood, GrabExpress, and GrabGifts,
customers will be able to have more customized and convenient experiences that
enhance their connection with Starbucks (Starbucks.ph, 2022).

3. We are privileged to be part of the country’s premier university. However,

students and graduates alike have the reputation of being arrogant.
Unfortunately, many innocent ones are dragged into this kind of stereotyping.
Some employers let this negative impression cloud their judgment.

Using your knowledge on the different characteristics necessary for relationship

selling, how can you convey your sincerity to your prospective employer? More
importantly, with the assumption that you get hired by the company, how can you
monitor yourself to make sure that you remain true to the words you gave your then
prospective employer? Please explain.

Being an Iskolar has many benefits that sometimes be overwhelming. When

someone cannot completely comprehend the duties of being one and hubris takes
over, it can become a problem with work conduct and ethics. I recognize that these
preconceptions existed long before I entered university, thus it is something over
which I have no total control. I'll concentrate on the things over that I have control,
which is myself. In order for my future employer to comprehend how the university
has shaped me into a competent employee, and how the qualities of honor and
excellence are incorporated in my work output, I am submitting myself for monitoring
in my first few months of work. Furthermore, consistency will be crucial in asserting
my position and preserving the achievements I have made. And hopefully in the long
run, I could change these stereotypes in my working environment.

4. The recent national elections have shown how politicians market themselves,
and how supporters market their candidates. Critique three candidates based on
their “selling” strategies using your own metrics. Comment on their strategies
such as locations for campaigns, jingles, programs, and other elements you
deem important.

a. BONGBONG MARCOS JR.

Marcos took advantage of the country’s susceptibility to fake news and
deception. With one of the media behemoths, ABS-CBN, being shut down by the
current administration, Juan Dela Cruz was stumped as to which information
better served the masses—the majority. Marcos won the hearts of the people by
making bogus promises such as cheaper basic necessities, gasoline and
petroleum, and a P20.00 rice price. Because of the pandemic's negative impacts,
more Filipinos are yearning for possibilities, and his promises have become a
beacon of hope for them. Tigre ng Norte is a macho and alpha-male persona
who inspires Filipinos to believe in men's superiority and leadership, while
downplaying what women may accomplish. Furthermore, his jingle Bagong
Pilipinas, Bagong Mukha, which is the polar opposite of his familial past given his
dictator father's previous leadership of the Philippines, does not appear to match
the narrative. Lastly, this excludes the fact that he never attended COMELEC-
Sponsored debates.

b. SARA DUTERTE-CARPIO
Sara joyrode Bongbong Marcos’ candidacy as his Vice President. They were
packaged as partners, and when one seemed to be not in the mood to attend
debates, so is the other. Even their jingles and campaign materials were synched,
providing little to no room for anyone to suspect they will not end up in bad terms.
c. LENI ROBREDO
Robredo's candidacy was founded on her accomplishments as the country's
current Vice President. She devised actual programs and activities that were
specifically tailored to each region's requirements. She also presented herself as a
nurturing mother, ready to take care of the majority's needs once the epidemic
struck. The story of the loving mother is accompanied with a message of optimism
and jingles that are frequently broadcast on radio stations. Pink was chosen to
represent her and her vision—Kulay Rosas ang Bukas—the most unexpected hue
for a political campaign Rosas, Nica Del Rosario's jingle, was performed in a
soothing tone and with phrases that best soothed the majority's heartaches and
sorrows. The campaign's song, which galvanized fans, even reached number two on
Billboard PH (Bodegon-Hikino, 2022). Robredo, with little to no budget in her office
during her administration, administered rallies, house to house campaigns and
campaign activities through the aid of volunteerism and her supporters’ contribution.

5. The importance of doing what is right has been taught to us ever since we were
little children. But with the pressure of society there are times when we get off-
track, unknowingly or otherwise. Marketers face many ethical dilemmas, which is
why graduates should always be armed with the right principles before they enter
the workplace. Using your own process for self-evaluation of attitude and
behavior, kindly answer the following questions:

a. How has college life changed/affected the philosophies taught to you at

home and when you were in primary school?

The University has irreversibly altered my life beliefs and outlook.

As a young girl growing up in a conservative municipality in Cotabato's
vast countryside, I was raised with traditional cultural values that I never
considered wrong. One example is my viewpoint on the LGBTIA+
community. I was dissatisfied with my classmates in elementary and high
school because of how they would not act depending on their gender at
birth (Yes, Ma'am, I was this problematic). This might be due to how the
culture has imposed gender-based standards of what is proper and how
one should act. When I got into the university, I understood how vital it is
to fully express oneself, and how difficult it is for someone to come out of
the closet due to preconceived conventions. Despite the challenges in
academia and in real life, I have much enjoyed how the university has
molded me as a progressive individual, and I continue to try to be my best
self. In practice, a lack of understanding of cultural diversity and gender
sensitivity can have an impact on work ethics and conduct. As a result, I
am grateful to the university and the people whom I met for the opportunity
to change my perspective and provide the greatest possible service to
others.

b. What can you do to keep your values intact or further develop them when
you graduate from the University of the Philippines?

Life outside of the university may be challenging. We no longer

have academics and lecturers to reprimand us and advise us on the best
course of action. When confronted with a particular situation, one may
begin to doubt his own ideals and convictions, resulting in a life crisis. But
here's what I'm grateful to the University for: when I pass a course with
really strict and demanding prerequisites, I feel like I can do anything in
life. And, given how difficult it is to graduate from the University of the
Philippines, I feel certain that I can overcome any obstacle in my life. The
problem remains in remaining modest and open to criticism and
correction. So, in order to maintain my principles, I should reflect on how I
overcame obstacles that I once thought were insurmountable, do tasks
one at a time, and remind myself that learning can still be done outside of
the institution.
