Soup and a Sandwish
 This special boy wanted
a special sandwich.
Not some peanut butter
and jiggly jelly-jam sandwich.
Not a little kid’s sandwich.
He wanted a
grown-up sandwich.
A gigantic, mountain-high
kind of sandwich.

He wanted more.
No soup for him.
He pushed it away.
wouldn’t do.
a bowl of alphabet soup
He was so hungry that
He was very, very hungry.
a very special boy.
There once was
 This special boy wanted
a special sandwich.

Not some peanut butter

and jiggly jelly-jam sandwich.
Not a little kid’s sandwich.

He pushed it away.

but not just one kind.

He wished for
cheddar, Swiss,
and Monterey jack.
He wished for
a big glob of
cheese spread.

for a ladder.

He had to stop

and turkey.

meat—roast beef,
Then he wished for
