    FORD 5R55W/S
    FLARED 2-3 SHIFT OR NO 3RD UNDER HARD THROTTLE

    COMPLAINT: After overhaul, vehicles equipped with the 5R55W/S transmission may exhibit a 2-3 up-shift
    flare and or a condition , under hard acceleration, of a 2nd to 4th up-shift skipping over 3rd
    gear.
    CAUSE: The cause may be, that during the overhaul process, 2009 and up Valve Body Gaskets were
    used on a spacer plate that was for 2002-08 models, covering holes in the spacer plate,
    causing the condition.

    CORRECTION: Refer to Figure 1, and verify the gaskets that are being used are compatible with the spacer
    plate. The illustration shows the area that changed. Ensure that the gasket being used does not
    cover any holes in the spacer plate.
