SCRIPT FOR ELC

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to my fellow classmates and madam madaha. Today I’ll be
presenting my oral commentary.

Slide 1

-The movie that I chose is Encanto. It is produced by Disney.

-The genre of this movie is family, fantasy, adventure and musical.

-The time setting shown in the movie is not specific, so I would it around 1920s-1940s based on their
outfits and lack of technology.

Slide 2

- Next, I’ll give an overview of the plot.

- Encanto is about an extraordinary family who lives in the Colombian mountain. Their magical house is
called the Casita that protects the family. Every child in the Madrigal has been blessed with the magic of
encanto except one, Mirabel. Mirabel has been living her 16 years of being mistreated by her
grandmother for not having any special gifts.

-One day, Mirabel noticed that the casita is cracking. She started to find some clues to save the casita.
She begins to explore bruno’s room and saw a vision of her causing the casita to fall apart.

- At that night, her family is having a dinner. She suddenly got into an argument with her sister and was
blamed for ruining the night.

-The next day, Mirabel saw another vision of her embracing her sister. She immediately went to Isabela
to seek forgiveness from her and they both reconciled. Isabela started to show her true colours
throughout her gift. However, mirabel’s action makes her grandmother upset. Her grandma started to
blamed her for bringing misfortune to the family. Mirabel snapped at her said it is not her fault for not
having any gifts. Their argument made the casita to fall apart completely.

- alma went looking for Mirabel and found her crying by the river alone. She admit that she is pressuring
and controlling the family all this while. And they both reconciled.

- They build the casita together with the help of villagers. Once Mirabel places the last doorknob, the
magical finally returns and the casita springs back to life.

-Next, is the main characters. Mirable is a kind and a brave person. She is really kind towards her
grandmother eventhough shes been mistreating Mirabel. And she is also brave because she did
everything on her own to save casita despite not having any special gift.

- Next we have alma madigral. Shes a loving grandmother but also quite controlling towards her family.
She wants everything to be perfect in the madrigal family

- in this scene, it shows Mirabel places the last doorknob. The magic finally returns in the madrigal
family. She finally feels like she is part of the family eventhough she still doesn’t have a gift like others.

The moral value that I learnt in this movie is forgivesness. Mirabel forgives her grandmother after years
of being mistreated by her.

- I would rate this movie 4.5 out of 5 because I personally think that they portrayed the characters
emotion really well and they were all very likable and relatable.

- the only thing I dislike about this movie is Mirabel didn’t get her special gift despite having so much to
go through.
