Importance of Safety Equipment

- So what I've learned is the importance of crew safety equipment for the safe operation of
moorings, such as coveralls that protect our bodies from hazardous substances such as hot oil,
water, welding sparks, and so on. Safety shoes assist us in ensuring that nothing happens to our
feet while working or walking onboard. A safety helmet protects our heads. Safety gloves
protect our hands and come in a variety of styles such as cotton gloves for general use, welding
gloves, chemical gloves, and so on.

Safety working practices on ships

- So I have learned about this topic, which is the safety working practices on ships when operating
lifting gears, derricks, deck cranes, access arrangements, and pipeline systems, that have been
discussed by our classmates The first is the proper method and practices for using lifting
equipment and lifting devices such as derricks and deck cranes, and how to check the
equipment properly before doing the operation. The second step is to perform any necessary
maintenance prior to the operation. Here I learned how to maintain the lifting equipment. The
wires and ropes must be lubricated and the lifting accessories and devices must be in good
condition to avoid accidents and malfunctions of the lifting equipment. I learned here about the
SWL, which is safe working load or (SWL). The SWL is the maximum safe force that a piece of
lifting equipment, lifting device, or accessory can exert to lift, suspend, or lower a given mass
without breaking. A competent person or those with a license for the said operation inspects
the lifting gears, derricks, deck cranes, access arrangements, and pipeline systems on a regular
basis.

- Lastly, the importance of personal protective equipment This will help me in the future. If I am
going to be an officer or master on a vessel, this can help me to guide my men and give them
advice and knowledge about what they can do to maintain the good condition of lifting
equipment and how to use the lifting gear, derricks, deck cranes, etc. Assist them in avoiding
them in the event of an accident.

Mooring Operation

- So this is i learned about the topic shared by group 2 in the previous meeting is how to work or
how to do the mooring operation onboard ship so here are the things you should do when you
assist in the mooring operation wear safety equipment in this operation. first coverall second
safety boots third safety helmet four more gloves and five buoyancy vest those are the things
you need to wear before you engage in the mooring operation. So I will apply it or it will help me
if I am an officer onboard, I can help the crew or cadets of the ship to be careful here so that
your life is not endangered or you are not harmed and also need double caution in this
operation it will also help me to be more careful and this operation is not a joke once you make
a mistake and you can die in this mooring operation.
Safety Operation of Anchoring and related equipment

- The thing that I learned from the previous topic of group 2 is the safety operation of anchoring
and its related equipment. Anchoring is a device made of metal that attached to a ship or boat
by anchor chain and cast overboard to hold it in a particular place. Anchoring is the way to make
the ship stop or slow in a certain position in the sea. The equipment’s of anchoring are anchor,
anchor chain, and windlass. It will help me to teach other crew of our vessel, and it will help
them get their jobs done quickly.
- First Mooring equipment is that there are many different kinds of mooring equipment available
for us to utilize, and it's crucial to use the right kind of rope while mooring. Due to the potential
to endanger one person's life, it is also crucial to follow the safety precautions when completing
the mooring operation.

Ropes and breaking stress

- Second, Components of wire ropes. Cables come in a variety of materials and have unique
qualities and attributes. It is important to verify that the wire rope bars are strong enough to
support the weight of the equipment and adverse weather conditions before attaching a rope
bar or lifting equipment. This will enable you to maximize the performance of your ship.

- Lastly, breaking stress checks for metals determine how long a single alloy is stretched until it
reaches its maximum tensile strength and how much metal can be loaded until structural
stability is lost. Therefore, it is a very important concept in material science and for safety
considerations.
