4 quake Jolts Abra

A magnitude 6.4 quake jolted Lagayan, Abra on Tuesday


night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology(PHIVOLCS) said.
Based on its earthquake bulletin, the epicenter of the quake
was one kilometer northwest of Lagayan, Abra. It occurred at
10:59 p.m.
The tectonic earthquake also had a depth of 11 kilometers,
according to PHIVOLCS.
The agency initially reported that a magnitude 6.7 quake hit
Tineg, Abra.

Meanwhile, no tsunami threat was detected in the country


following the quake, according to PHIVOLCS.
No destructive tsunami threat exist based on available data.
However, earthquakesn of this size may generate unusual sea
level disturbances that may be observed along coast near
earthquake epicenter of Abra province.
The Philippine Red Cross(PRC), on the other hand, said their
volunteers are now monitoring their areas of responsibility.

writing.
