TYPES OF POWER
PRODUCING MACHINES
Presentation By:
BSME-1B Date:
AUGUST 17, 2022
What are the types of power producing
machine?

Steam Turbine Wind Turbine

Concentrating Solar Power

Nuclear Power Plant Combustion Turbine

STEAM TURBINE
a machine that extracts thermal energy from
pressurized steam and uses it to do
mechanical work on a rotating output shaft.
And its modern manifestation was invented
by Charles Parsons in 1884.
NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
a thermal power station in which the heat
source is nuclear reactor. Heat is used to
generate steam that drives a steam turbine
connected to a generator that produces
electricity.
CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWER
Generate solar power by using mirrors or lenses to
concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a receiver.
Electricity is generated when the concentrated light
is connected to heat which drives a heat engine
connected to an electrical power generator or
power a thermochemical reaction.
WIND TURBINE
a device that converts the kenetic energy of wind
into electrical energy. Hundreds of thousands of
large turbines in installations known as wind farms
now generate over 650 gigawatts of power with 60
GW added each year.
COMBUSTION TURBINES
A type of continues flow internal combustion
engine. The main parts are common to all gas
turbine engines from the power-producing part
and in the direction of flow. A rotating gas
compressor a combuster a compressor- driving
turbine.
