Module 2 Reflection
Introduction:

My name is Casey Enloe. I am in the Education

Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology
at the School of Instructional Technology and
Innovation at Kennesaw State University. I began my
program in the fall of 2021 and will graduate in May
2023. I graduated from the University of West Georgia
with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
in 2018. I completed my Master of Education in Middle
Grades Science from the University of Georgia in 2021.

Roles:
I am a 6th-grade science teacher at East
Cobb Middle School in Cobb County
School District. I have been teaching at my
school since 2019 and have experience
teaching both 6th and 8th grades. In
addition to teaching science, I am a
volunteer Science Olympiad coach and a
co-founder of my school's Go Baby Go
Team.

Roles Continued:
Until the 2022-2023 school year, my school
benefitted from Title I funding, Although we lost
Title I funding, many students at my school are
from low-income families and are eligible for
free and/or reduced lunch. My middle school
consists of a diverse demographic of students
from various races, religions, and ethnic
backgrounds. My school also has a large number
of students who are a part of the ESOL program.

Use of ISTE-E Standards:

The use of ISTE-E standards has
helped improve my role in
education by improving my
pedagogical approaches in regard
to technology. Because of the ISTE-E
standards, I am using technology as
a tool to help my students learn,
problem-solve, and become better
digital citizens.

ISTE-E Standards
2.1 Learner
Throughout the courses, I engaged in
modules and activities that required me
to improve my practice and knowledge
by learning from and with others. In
ITEC 7430 I learned about different
technology tools from the course
modules and used the tools such as
Nearpod, Canva, and podcasts, to
improve my students' learning
outcomes.

2.2 Leader
During ITEC 7455 I completed an
advocacy grant assignment. For this
assignment, I wrote a grant that was
designed for my school to have access to
Merge Cubes in all science classrooms.
This grant was designed to provide
equitable access to educational
technology within my classroom and
school.

2.3 Citizen
During ITEC 7455 I created six mini-
lessons to educate my students on digital
citizenship and internet safety. The topics
of these lessons covered digital privacy,
passwords, fair use, communication, and
social responsibility. These lessons taught
my students how to positively contribute
to the digital world.

2.4 Collaborator

During ITEC 7430 I collaborated

with my colleagues to create
authentic learning experiences
that leveraged technology. During
this course, I was able to use
collaborative tools such as Canva
and Padlet to expand students'
real world learning experiences

2.5 Designer
During ITEC 7485 I completed a creative
computing project. During this project, I
collaborated with my students to create
a digital pet that required coding. For
this project, my students were tasked
with both the design of the pet and
desired coding outcome (lights, sounds,
etc.). This created an authentic learning
activity that fostered creativity and
computational thinking skills.

Goals
2.6 Facilitator
During ITEC 7600 I collaborated with
my students to create personalized
lessons and materials that were
personalized to their instructional
needs. For this course, I created a
checklist that monitored student
progress and learning goals throughout
the semester. This allowed my students
to take ownership of their learning in
both independent and group settings.

2.7 Analyst

During ITEC 7480 I was able to create

lessons that provided students with
alternative ways to show competency.
Methods in which my students could
show competency included Flip videos,
presentations on PowerPoint or Canva, or
written assignments.

Changes due to ISTE-E Standards

The ISTE-E standards changed my
practices as an educator by making
me more aware of incorporating
technology in an authentic way.
The ISTE-E standards have taught
me the importance of incorporating
lessons that involve collaboration
and help students take ownership
of their learning

Portfolio:
One element of my portfolio that I
am particularly proud of is the blog
posts for my ITEC 7430. For this
course, I was required to create a
blog post with artifacts for each
module. This course's work
included a podcast. Nearpod
presentation, my final NETS lesson
plan, and other technology tools .

Goals:
My goal for using digital tools as part
of my educational practice going
forward is to continue to create
authentic lessons that require
students to use technology
throughout each unit. My second goal
is to teach my students to be good
digital citizens by incorporating
technology into our day-to-day
lessons
