SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES OF GENDER, SEX, AND SEXUALITY BASED


ON MY VENN DIAGRAM

SEX
Sex is the physical self at birth. Identified depending on a person's sexual anatomy or
sexual body parts. A girl has a vagina While a boy has a penis. Hormones are
molecules in our bodies that support basic functions and are also employed as
indicators. Human males tend to have higher levels of testosterone, which is associated
with bone density, muscle mass, strength, and making sperm. On the other hand,
human females tend to have higher levels of estrogen and progesterone, which are
associated with lactation and menstruation. Those refer to whether a person is male,
female, or intersex.

GENDER
Gender is internal and not visible to others. It is about who you feel yourself to be or
which you are comfortable with. This can be expressed in their clothing, physical
appearance, behavior, and mannerism. For an instance, if a male does not feel
comfortable identifying as a man, they are called a transgender woman. Some may get
surgery to change their gender so that their physical traits match their gender
identification.

SEXUALITY
One of the characteristics of sexuality is sexual attraction.
- Straight is if a man is sexually attracted to a woman.
- Gay is if a man is sexually attracted to another man.
- Lesbian is if a woman is sexually attracted to a woman.
- Bisexual is if a person is sexually attracted to both sexes.
- A Pansexual is a person who is sexually attracted to all sexes and genders.
- An asexual is a person who doesn't feel attracted to all sexes and genders.
Other characteristics are:
Sexual Behavior refers to the people with whom an individual has sexual relationships.
Romantic Attraction – recognizes that sexual activity or sexual attraction is not
necessary for close partnerships.
Sexual Identity - How an individual views their sexual orientation.

SIMILARITIES
Similarities between sex and gender are they both recognize a person and sex is a
biological dimension of gender.
Similarities between sex and sexuality are they are both based on physical sex. Sex is a
biological dimension of sexuality.
While Gender and sexuality are both individual identities. No matter what their identity
is, they should be respected and treated equally in our society.
