Emerging Issues In Law Assignment

There is so much going on in the world right now and all of these events touch
upon a theme of the law that we study in this course. Student teams are to make
presentations on emerging issues in law. The specific topic of each presentation is
left to the student team but each student team must present about the legal topic
that I will assign such as Torts, Crime, etc. You may choose to discuss a current
legal case or legal issue. I ask that your topic/case should be no more than 1 year
old.

Content:
 For the case or issue you choose, you should give a full overview of the
relevant law involved in the legal issue or case.
 You should discuss how the event/case impacts society, business, politics
and the law.
 For legal cases, each team should give a full account of the parties to the
case, the facts, the legal issue(s), the decision and reflections on the impact
of the decision on society, business, law, politics, etc.
 Each team must use reputable sources for law and business such as
Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Economist, the Atlantic, NPR, or
SCOTUS Blog.
 Each team member will be graded based on content but also delivery. Please
try not to read from your Powerpoint slides. I want each student to really
own their part in the presentation. Each team member must have an equal
amount of speaking time.

 Topic:               Each team will be assigned a subject to cover as noted below

 Length:         10-12 minutes of presentation with Powerpoint slides with a

maximum of 10 (ten) minutes of questions/discussion
 Due date:         Each team will get their assigned topic below with a date for
the presentation
 Deliverable:        PPT slide deck and 1-2 paragraph written summary
including citations.
