3. Presenting Examples/
instances of the new lesson  Title : Proper way of planting/propagating trees and fruit-bearing
trees. (MELC-BASED) - Bing video url:
https://youtu.be/_KFDuCKqcj8 and do the activity below.

Plant propagation is the process of increasing the number of plants of a

particular species or cultivar. There are two primary forms of plant
propagation: sexual and asexual. In nature, propagation of plants most
often involves sexual reproduction, or the production of viable seeds. When
exposed to proper environmental conditions, these seeds germinate and
grow into mature, reproductive plants. Over the years, horticulturists have
4. Discussing new concepts also developed asexual propagation methods that use vegetative plant parts.
and practicing new skills This allows plants to be created in ways that nature cannot duplicate.
no.1
 Sexual Propagation – propagation using valuable seeds.
These seeds have the capacity to germinate and grow.

 Asexual Propagation- is the production of new plants from

leaves, stems, and roots. It can done manually, either
naturally or using scientific approach.
Proper ways of planting/propagating trees and fruit-bearing trees
Plant propagation is a method or reproducing, increasing, or
multiplying plant species.
It is being practiced because of the following reasons:
1. To increase the number of plant species.
2. To produce plant varieties that are resistant to some insect pests and
diseases.
3. To evolve new and better varieties of plants suited to different conditions of
soil and climate.
5. Discussing new concepts
4. To accelerate and at the same time lessen the bearing age of plants.
and practicing new skills
5. To avert the extinction of some plant species.
no.2
• Budding – is the process of transferring the lateral bud taken from the scion
to the stock of the same family.
• Marcotting or Air - layering- induces the stem to develop roots while it is still
growing on the mother plant.
• Grafting – inserting a scion into a stock to so that they will form a union and
grow together.
• Cutting – the leaves are removed and the stems are cut 10 inches long.
One –half of the cutting is inserted into the soil.

6. Developing Mastery

7. Finding practical application Group the class into 3.

of concepts and skills in
daily living Let the pupils perform/demonstrate the systematic way of plant propagation.

GROUP1- will demonstrate T- Budding

GROUP 2- will demonstrate Marcotting

GROUP 3- will perform the Grafting.

8. Making Generalization and Ask the pupils:

abstraction about the lesson  Give the types of plant propagation and explain the
            difference.
 Enumerate the examples of Asexual Propagation.
Assessment
