ABSTRACT

The ultimate goal of the paper is to explore the requirements of travelers in entoto park and our
proposed and developed solution of application including some basic guidance for the travelers in the
area. Every year thousands of foreigners from diverse countries come to visit entoto park for different
purposes. Most of them come for religious, study, and

business purposes. Besides, tourists also visit different places of natural beauty and history of the park.
However, being foreigners, the travelers face different types of problem including

limited guide activity, problem in understanding language and so on. Based on travelers’ requirement,
we have come up with our mobile application which can solve their problem during visiting the park.
The paper illustrates the features, development method, result, and uses of our application named “tour
Guide”.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

development, presentation, and paper organization have helped us to successfully accomplish the
paper.

we are sincerely grateful to friends, who give their valuable suggestions and support to complete the
project. The whole research work would not be possible without the active encouragement from all of
them.

1.1BACKGROUND OF STUDY

I classified the back ground in to two section

 First about tourism

 Second about entoto park

 Tourism is the travel for recreation, leisure, religious, family business purposes, usually of a
limited duration. Tourism is considered an activity essential to Nations because of its direct
effects on social, cultural, educational and economic sectors of National societies and their
International relations.According to the third edition of the Oxford English dictionary, tourism is
defined as the commercial organization and operation of holidays and visits to place of interest.
 Tourism can be defined as a short-term movement of people to places some distance away from
their normal place of residence to indulge in pleasurable activities..When a person leaves his
home town for another location in the same country, he is termed a Domestic tourist. But if he
crosses the frontiers of his country, he then becomes an International tourist. However, tourism
is fast becoming one of the most functional industries in the world. It makes great impact in
Nations by helping to create employment opportunities, by developing infrastructures, and a
very rich source of income and revenue. It plays an important role by offering employment to a
good number of a Nation’s population that could be doctors, dancers, engineers, labourers,
entertainers etc.
 Tourism helps improve a nation’s infrastructural development. It provides amenities such as
good transport and communication network, cheap and comfortable accommodations, essential
infrastructures and super structures. As a result of this, tourism has been integrated into the
national plans of many countries to raise the economic standard of physical of their
environments and improve the people’s social interaction. Tourism also creates a considerable
impact on the improvement of the general features of the environment, the establishment of
hotels and allied industries. It also provides benefits that come in the form of provision of
necessary infrastructure, provision of electricity, the construction of roads, and portable water
supply and sewage disposal system.
 As a rich source of income and revenue; tourism has become one of the most integral source of
foreign exchange and balance of payments to many tourism inclined countries. This can be
exemplified by Britain whose greatest exports includes tourism which is one of the fastest
growing items of International trade. Besides being a source of foreign exchange earnings,
tourism could also assist in promoting national unity and mutual understanding through
domestic and international travels. If tourism is properly groomed in Nigeria, it will breed peace
and unity and many Nigerians will have the opportunity to visit different other states and tribes.
This will eliminate conflicts, and reduce tribalism and religious tensions.

Entoto park

Entoto park is one of the park in ethopia it is located in addis ababa around entoto kidane mehiret.
 A sincere request prevailed for a family-friendly invitation to the Park's exquisite nature for a
long time. Thanks to a new family and culture department with the required modern facilities,
this unique nature would become within reach for families and passionate nature people. Thus,
the somewhat rugged and overwhelming vast appearance of Entoto Natural Park gave the cause
for developing this more comfortable department, including various activities and cultural
facilities. This newly inaugurated and modern department is called Entoto Park.
 It can seem confusing with these name variations of the Park. However, these different names
of the Park are associated with its unique nature and culture. These park sections give visitors
diverse interests an excellent opportunity to choose today's adventures according to their
interests in activities or culture. Because Entoto Natural Park is ubiquitous and characterized by
wilderness, this also often poses too great a challenge for shorter or more comfortable stays.
 Contrary to Entoto Park (Z), Entoto Natural Park appears for many despite its captivating beauty
as often too wild and uncomfortable and thereby unreachable for families. Thus, due to the
mountainous character of Entoto Natural Park and despite its alluring and dramatic beauty, the
Park often appear too difficult and challenging in its canyons and vast highland landscape.
Certainly, Entoto Natural Park seems uniquely precious with its beauty, and precisely within this
landscape's wild and natural beauty prevails its exceptional value as a heritage of environment
and culture.
 Visiting all these new activities and facilities of the newly inaugurated Entoto Park for one day
can appear to be something overwhelming and tiring. However, although more convenient and
comfortable than the mysteriously beautiful sceneries of Entoto Natural Park's nature, the
newly inaugurated Entoto Park is also quite widespread and somewhat demanding high altitude.
Naturally, several maps simplify access to entertainment or cultural facilities for visitors to
Entoto Park, with its various activities within the dramatic landscape.
 At the centre of all these, new and modern cultural activities and facilities stand the area around
Entoto Park's main entrance, here signed on the maps as (Z). Thus, the traditionally used name
for just this place of the historical mountain gave the title to the site for the main gate's location
with its immediate access on the charts with the signification Entoto Park (Z).
 A lot of questions are coming about the Park, like entrance fee, opening hours, café etc., please
give details in your web or send a detailed brochure. The request is self-evident and with a high
priority for an attractive response. The work of offering answers to these inquiries, therefore,
begins immediately.

Scope of problem

This project is embarked on to solve the following problems:

there are alots of problems are faced when visit the park :

 They do not have information about where to go.

 They do not have information about where to go.
 Hospitality (Hotels, restaurants, etc.)
 Transportation & Mobility.
 Lack of public spaces.
 Traffic congestion & pollution.
 Lack of security.

additionally

The major problems experienced is the poor information flow, delay in handling enquiries, making
bookings, and poor customer service and feedback.

1. Delay in handling enquiries and making bookings, poor customer service and feedback.

2. Unauthorized access to vital documents and files of the corporation, and displacements of records.

3. Certain tourist locations and accommodations may be unavailable at certain times and the existing
system may fail to communicate these to a customer as a result of unorganized information which may
put customers in cases of unplanned expenses or an uncomfortable tour.

tool used
Requirment gathering methods

I use document analysis in order to obtain the information about the practices and problems of
the tour guide project system which ultimately assists us in developing the computerized system.
There are saved documents referred for the preparation of the system. In addition, we use
internet access.

Document analysis: The team reviewed documents such as books, e-books and some related
previously done projects which are very important to develop our project. During the analysis of
documents, we give a special consideration to those documents which can bring more features to
our system.
qutionary: This is one of data collection method that enables to gather information indirectly
from the tourism office in the form of asking question and getting answers for those questions.
So, I will use this method to gather information by asking the some basic questions regarding the
following issues will be asked :-
What is the problems of tours?
What requirements are needed for the process?
Who is responsible for what?
Brainstorming: This is also another data collecting method. In fact I gather as many ideas as
possible from many people as possible to identify, categorize assign task, opportunity and
potential solution quickly. This method enables us tour guide project is going on.

In my project the I will use Object Oriented Software Development Methodology (OOSD)
because it has the following advantages: -
o Increase reusability: - the object oriented provides opportunities for reuse through
the concepts of inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation and modularity.
o Increased extensibility: - when there is a need to add new feature to the system
you only need to make changes.
o Improved quality: - quality of my system must be on time and meet my exceeded
the expectation of the users of my system, improved quality comes from increased
participation of users in the system development.
 The approach employed in designing the proposed system is the Rational Unified Process
(RUP).The RUP methodology is based on the fact that the system represents organized way of
gathering business requirements and building the goal of the project. This was employed,
because it is an object-oriented program development methodology and also a framework for
developing software systemsIt also clearly outlines the different roles of the individuals involved
in the project, such as the project manager, business analyst and developers. Some
characteristics of Rational Unified Process include

i.Developing iteratively:

This involves developing software in repeated cycles.

With each cycle, additional features are designed and developed in the system until the system is fully
functional and ready for deployment to the customer.

ii.Managing requirements:

This involves explicit documentation of the user’s requirement

and keeping track of changes with respect the requirement. It also analyses thesystem and the impact
those changes will make on the system before taking them into consideration.

iii.Using component-based architectures: This involves structuring the system architecture into

components.

iv.Modelling software visually:

Using graphical UML to present the software’s dynamic and static view

v.Quality verification:

It ensures that software meets the organizational quality standards

vi.Control over changes:

it gives room for changes in the software to be managed efficiently

using a change management system and configuration management procedures

 java
JDK is an acronym for Java Development Kit. The Java Development Kit(JDK)
is a software development environment which is used to develop java
applications and applets. It physically exists. It contains JRE + development
tools. JDK is an implementation of any one of the below given Java
Platforms released by Oracle corporation: Standard Edition Java Platform,
Enterprise Edition Java Platform, Micro Edition Java Platform. The JDK
contains a private Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and a few other resources
such as an interpreter/loader (Java), a compiler (java c), an archiver (jar), a
documentation generator (Javadoc) etc. to complete the development of a
Java Application.

Feasibility

Preliminary investigation examines project feasibility, the likelihood the system will be useful to the
organization. The main objective of the feasibility study is to test the Technical, Operational and
Economical feasibility for adding modules and debugging old running system.

All systems are feasible if they are given unlimited resources and infinite time. There are aspects in

the feasibility study portion of the preliminary investigation:

 Technical Feasibility
 Operation Feasibility
 Economical Feasibility

TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY:

The technical issue usually raised during the feasibility stage of the investigation includes the

following:

 Does the necessary technology exist to do what is suggested?

 Do the proposed equipments have the technical capacity to hold the data required to use the

new system?

 Will the proposed system provide adequate response to inquiries, regardless of the number or
location of users?
 Can the system be upgraded if developed?

OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

Proposed projects are beneficial only if they can be turned out into information systems, which will
meet the organization’s operating requirements. Operational feasibility aspects of the project are to be
taken as an important part of the project implementation. Some of the important issues raised are to
test the operational feasibility of a project includes the following:
 Is there sufficient support for the management from the users?
 Will the system be used and work properly if it is being developed and implemented?
 Will there be any resistance from the user that will undermine the possible application benefits?

This system is targeted to be in accordance with the above mentioned issues. Beforehand, the
management issues and user requirements have been taken into consideration. So there is no question
of resistance from the users that can undermine the possible application benefits.

The well planned design would ensure the optimal utilization of the computer resources and would help
in the improvement of performance status.

ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY

A system can be developed technically and that will be used if installed must still be a good investment
for the organization. In the economical feasibility, the development cost in creating the system is
evaluated against the ultimate benefit derived from the new systems. Financial benefits must equal or
exceed the costs. The system is economically feasible. It does not require any additional hardware or
software.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of this research, design and development dwells only on entoto park and a few prominent
tourist destinations surrounding it.

 The project focus on how guide when people wants to visit the park
 The project focus on how tourists use the services which found in the park there are a lots of

This is because, tourism is a broad topic and due to research time restriction, lack of needed research
materials and resources, the scope of the study is limited

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

 In the cause of accomplishing these tasks, obstacles were encountered. Due to the wide
scope and discovery of new tourist destinations in the park, it makes it intricate to have the
background knowledge of these destinations and most importantly, areas needed for data
collection of this study were inaccessible either for security reasons or otherwise.
 As a result of that, limited source of information was gathered.
 Not include all service that found in the park
 The proposed system doesn’t support offline connection.

 As students there is limitation budgets and time

Signficance of the project

The project is designed to be more efficient than the manual system. It invokes all base tasks that are
now carried out manually, such as the forms transactions and reports which is added advantage. The
proposed System is completely computer-based application. Thousands of records can searched and
displayed without taking any significant time

Advantages of the Proposed System:

 Gives accurate information

 Simplifies the manual work

INTRODUCTION
This tour guide mobile application about entoto national park helps the
people easily to get the location of the park with out using guiding book
and helps of peoples in additional to this the tourist uses the park
services in the park there are a lots of services are found . before this
system the tourists were difficult to get the location of the park and to
use the park service in chapter one I use different technique to collect
information which related to the project in this chapter I analyses the
information’s . basically about the existing and new system .
LITERATURE REVIEW
In the tourism industry, tourist information is obtained mainly through
newspaper, magazines, radio and other simple ways those are available easily.
But problem is that tourists are not able to get travel information timely when
they are on the move. While today's mobile devices are becoming more
intelligent, compared with PC, they still have the following limitations like small
screen and tiny keyboard, limited CPU capacity, limited memory space, slow and
fitful Internet connection. Many mobiles of recent decades have travel guide
application. But the application on these mobiles works slow due to continues
acquisition of the band width. Therefore, the mobile end -user’s operation is very
difficult, and the contents display on the screen of mobile device is limited
Analysis
Analysis phase is start with the activities like researches, fact findings and analysis
of related application. In this phase, the information and app requirement will be
collected through the researches from the similar existing had been selected to
be compared to generate more ideas and function on developing the project app.
The analysis of similar existing app in market can help to find out how their app
function, what feature their app have and what is their app limitation. Thus, the
app will able to provide a simple application with better performance than other
app that had been study

EXISTING SYSTEM
GENERALLY IN THE PARK THE SYSTEM look like this
 All Work are done Manually.
 In Manual Booking System Customer has to go to the Travelling office.
 Ask Inquiry for Travelling then entrance ticket Finally Pay Payment &Collect
Receipt.
 Difficult To Maintain the Customer Details of Package and Payment Receipt
in Register.
 They Register Tour Package in the notebook.
 Add advertisement in Local newspaper or Local Market.
 Use Travelling Facility For the Limited Area or Person.

Advantage of the existing system

 Because of connection problem that in tourists faced difficult to use the online
system
 Many domestic tourists have not habit to use mobile application and other
online systems this tourists prefer the existing system
 When the park assign guides for tourist by considering different things.

Disadvantage of the existing system

 All jobs are done manually
 When large no of tourists comes to the park There is limitation tour guides in
the park
 Limitation of guide knowledge including language, exact location and so on

NEW SYSTEM
The new system which replace the existing system basically concentrate on tour
guide issues

 to guide tourists perfectly with out guides

 the application is gps based application directs tourists .
 this gps based application accurately show the current location
 this gps based application shows nearest stations from the current
location
 in the application tourists select basic stations which show the direction of
station .
The new system is designed to be more efficient than the manual system. It
invokes all base tasks that are now carried out manually, such as the forms
transactions and reports which is added advantage. The proposed System is
completely MOBILE-based application. Thousands of records can searched and
displayed without taking any significant time.

Advantages of the NEW SYSTEM:

 Gives accurate information
 Simplifies the manual work
 It minimizes the documentation related work
 Provides up to date information
 Friendly Environment by providing warning messages.
 travelers details can be provided
 booking confirmation notification

Disadvantages of the NEW SYSTEM

 the application does not work with out connection
 the application wants smart phones
 the project does note consider tour guide future life
 the application not suitable blindness
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATION
DEVELOPERS RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
My responsibility:

     Developing the system, which meets the SRS and solving all
the requirements of the system?
    Demonstrating the system and installing the system at client’s
location after the acceptance testing is successful.
  Submitting the required user manual describing the system
interfaces to work on it and also the documents of the system.
     Conducting any user training that might be needed for using
the system.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OUTPUT DESIGN
Outputs from computer systems are required primarily to communicate
the results of processing to users. They are also used to provides a
permanent copy of the results for later consultation. The various types of
outputs in general are:

 External Outputs, whose destination is outside the organization.

 Internal Outputs whose destination is within organization and
they are the
 User’s main interface with the .
 Operational outputs whose use is purely within the mobile.
 Interface outputs, which involve the user in communicating
directly.
INPUT DESIGN
Input design is a part of overall system design.  The main objective during
the input design is as given below:

 To produce a cost-effective method of input.

 To achieve the highest possible level of accuracy.
 To ensure that the input is acceptable and understood by the user.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Performance is measured in terms of the output provided by the

application.

Requirement specification plays an important part in the analysis

of a system. Only when the requirement specifications are
properly given, it is possible to design a system, which will fit into
required environment. It rests largely in the part of the users of
the existing system to give the requirement specifications
because they are the people who finally use the system. This is
because the requirements have to be known during the initial
stages so that the system can be designed according to those
requirements. It is very difficult to change the system once it has
been designed and on the other hand designing a system, which
does not cater to the requirements of the user, is of no use
The requirement specification for any system can be broadly stated as
given below:

 The system should be able to interface with the existing system

 The system should be accurate
 The system should be better than the existing system

Requirements Corresponding to the What, How, When and

Where
In the discussion above ethe unit of analysis has been the traveler.
Corresponding to the user and the demand side is the supply side and the
technical requirements. The requirements of the application have to match
the what, how, when and where. Hence, the requirements for in situ
applications can then be summarized as having relevance to place, relevance
to time and relevance for the individual. Relevance to place can be handled by
e.g. by GPS navigation or by mobile phone triangulation. GPS receivers are
inexpensive. Mobile device manufacturer integrate GPS in most high-end
phones and sometimes in the low-end mobile phones. As the device "knows"
where the tourist is, attractions need to be geo-tagged for the application to
"find" points of interest relevant to the tourist’s current position. Relevance to
time can be handled by the device’s clock, the time function.

However, for the device to find and present the relevant attraction, the
attraction has to be time-tagged. Relevance to the individual tourist’s interests
has to be made by the matching the tourist’s profile to metadata describing
the features covered by the point of interest.
Whereas the two first Requirements technically speaking are fairly simple, the
third requirement is more complex.
In this regard there is a need for semantic technologies. A core element is the
ontology necessary for the purpose of matching and solving interoperability
problem.
Parameters for evaluating a mobile application for
travelers in situ
It is possible to distinguish between two main methods or approaches in
evaluating applications. The first method is evaluations done by researchers or
developers. The
second methodological approach is user evaluation (surveys), for instance user
observations and user-feedback. The chosen method in this study is an
evaluation by researchers. The two authors reviewed the applications based
on a list of parameters. There is a subjective element in the evaluation.
However, the evaluation has only the two alternatives “has” or “has not”
together with a basic description
Application development
 Nowadays, people’s consumption structure is improving steadily. There has
been a large increase in the number of people out on tours, for the sake of
recreation and entertainment Mean while, there is greatly enriched travel
Information provided to the tourists on the Internet. However, a problem is
shown that tourists are not able to get travel information timely when they are
on the move. Therefore, we intend to explore how to build a mobile tourist
guide system based on mash up technology to solve this problem.

 Current mobile services are enhanced with location aware features, providing
the user with better use experience. A great number of mobile phone
applications appeared recently, many of which are location related. Location
dependent services, which answer location related queries, are an important
class of context aware applications.
I will describe the design, implementation and deployment of a
location based application, named, tour guide mobile
application for entoto park .
 This application permitted users to get tour guidance information they need
anytime and anywhere. In particular, the tourist data could be browsed or
queried through an Internet map service such as Google Maps. The mobile
client’s current location is one of the most important information for location
related system. Mobile phones need to report their own locations to the
remote server periodically, so that the information they want can be suitably
queried. From the point of view of the service, the simplest method of locating
is to let user tell his or her location, but this method requires extra effort
because the user needs to define his or her location and input it to the system.
The user can be located with different positioning systems.
 The advantage of this method is that the users do not need any extra
equipment.. It provides accurate location information for an unlimited number
of people anywhere in the world. GPS satellites broad cast signals from space
which are picked up and identified by the receivers, then the receiver are
provided with three dimensional locations: latitude, longitude and altitude. If
the user device includes a GPS (Global Positioning System) module which is
becoming increasingly common in current mobile devices, the user’s location
can be defined very accurately .
Conclusion
In conclusion, the reviewed literature has provided deeper understanding
of the proposed application. Different scholars have written about task
allocation applications and information systems. Review of the related
applications will help the researcher come up with an application that will
eliminate some of the weaknesses in the related applications and also pick
ideas from the strengths of those application in order to design an
improved application.
