1. What is Digital Age/Information Age?

The digital age has a wide scope. It’s likely that you have heard of buzz words like ‘artificial intelligence’
(AI), ‘automation’, ‘big data’, ‘Insure Tech’, ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT), and ‘cloud’. These are just some of
the streams that come under the ‘digital age’ umbrella.

2. Explain the role of ICT in social change.

ICT can enable disadvantaged individuals and communities to participate in the national and global
policy decisions that can change their lives and empower them to take actions that can financially,
socially, and politically benefit them.

3. Discuss how digital technology change society in the area of:

a. Business

Increased Employee Productivity - Business owners can also implement business technology to reduce
the amount of human labor in business functions. This allows small businesses to avoid paying labor
costs along with employee benefits. Even fundamental business tech can have a major impact on
employee performance.

b. Job

The positive effect is the price-productivity effect. Increasing the number of robots decreases the cost of
production, thus expanding the industry and increasing the demand for labor. The analysis also
considered gender, industry, occupation, education, and wage percentiles.

c. Health

Health Apps: The digital revolution has also resulted in the development of hundreds of health apps.
These apps enable patients to monitor their health and disease, provide them medical information,
allow them access to test results and prompt them when it is time to get their check-up.

d. Lifestyle

Technology has changed how we entertain ourselves, meet each other, and consume all types of media.
It’s made fun advancements, but it’s also made important advancements in safety when it comes to
home security and medical devices.

e. Entertainment

You can now enjoy music, games, and videos anywhere and anytime. Content creators can now create
and distribute all types of media content. So digital technology has changed both content creation and
consumption because it influences leisure and entertainment activities.

f. Education
Students can collaborate on group projects using technology-based tools such as wikis and Google docs.
The walls of the classrooms are no longer a barrier as technology enables new ways of learning,
communicating, and working collaboratively. It is what we are using now, we use technology to interact
with the teachers and also to our classmates using Google classroom or via Zoom.

4. What is Technological Determinism? Elaborate and give concrete examples.

Technological determinism (TD), simply put, is the idea that technology has important effects on our
lives. This idea figures prominently in the popular imagination and political rhetoric, for example in the
idea that the Internet is revolutionizing economy and society. Just like the now because of the wide
spread of using technology even a 1-year child know how to use basic technology how come in the
future it is more than that.

5. What is Social Constructivism? Elaborate and give concrete examples.

Social constructivism is a learning theory that views learning and human development from a social
interaction point of view, underpinned by the cognitive framework under which learners learn. It
means that the learning that we absorb through using technology that we use in the real-life. Just
like google meet we interact with each other we give different ideas that came from the internet. And
the teacher gives us learnings or other ideas that we absorb and use it in reality.

6. Describe the process of Technological Change.

The process of technological change starts with invention. Then, the invention goes through
innovations where it improves and is used. The process ends with diffusion, where technology is
spread across industries and societies.

7. How technological evolution takes place?

The collective body of technological endeavor evolves by creating new elements from within itself. It
forms a system that is constantly changing in ways that nobody can quite predict. This evolutionary
process provides the impetus in turn for large-scale changes in science, the economy, and much of
human culture.
