- Forward -

1. This booklet shall be kept on board and available for the guidance of the
officer in charge of the ship.

2. This booklet is intended to provide ship's officers with clear information on


the ship's watertight subdivision and equipment related to maintaining the
boundaries and effectiveness of the subdivision so that, in the event of damage
to the ship causing flooding, proper precautions can be taken to prevent
progressive flooding through openings therein and effective action can be
taken quickly to mitigate the ship's loss of stability.

Precautions are as the following;-


- Watertight/Oiltight closing appliances not used during navigation shall be
kept closed and that closing appliances to be used during navigation shall
be closed immediately after passage.

- Weathertight closing appliances shall be closed immediately after passage.

- All of the valves for cargo piping system, ballast system, bilge system, etc.,
and all of the caps such as sounding pipes shall be closed during navigation
unless they are being used. In addition, all of the valves being used at time
of collision shall be closed immediately.

- Regarding the results of the damage stability analyses and the general
instructions for controlling the effects of damage, refer to the following
booklet;

- Means of accessing and escaping from E/R, Steering Gear Room and Pump Room
are included in this booklet. In addition, Means of accessing to Cargo Area
and F.P. Void Space are shown in the following;

- A shore-based emergency response system and the contact information


are as the followings;
