2. Legislative: The legislative branch drafts proposed laws, confirms or rejects presidential
nominations for heads of federal agencies, federal judges, and the Supreme Court, and has the
authority to declare war.

Executive: The executive branch of our Government is in charge of making sure that the laws of
the country are obeyed. The President is the head of the executive branch. The President gets
help from the Vice President, department heads (called Cabinet members), and heads of
independent agencies.

Judiciary: The Judicial branch is a separate branch, led by the Chief Justice.
